Danner Posted June 8, 2021 Share #1  Posted June 8, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) There's a nice looking M7 offered at a low price, but with the caveat that the shutter only works at 1/60 and 1/125. Question: Does anybody know what the cost of having Leica service this camera would be?  This needs to be factored into the camera value.  I'm pretty sure the independent shop can't do this type of service. Thanks for your thoughts...
Advertisement Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 Hi Danner, Take a look here M7 with Non-Functional Shutter Control. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
a.noctilux Posted June 8, 2021 Share #2 Â Posted June 8, 2021 If putting in batteries does nothing more, no way to repair it. If the two speeds are enough, I'd take it if the cost is right. Â If I remember well, Leica doesn't repair M7 anymore, for some years now. No electronic parts available at Leica.
Danner Posted June 8, 2021 Author Share #3 Â Posted June 8, 2021 OK, thanks. Â I knew the M6Â electronics couldn't be repaired, but I thought the M7 was still serviceable by Leica itself.

Only Leica will do this, but do this they will. So, these rumors are greatly exaggerated. I didn't pay for the repair myself, though, so don't know about the cost.

Was that by Wetzlar, or one of the national distributors, such as Leica USA?

That was by Wetzlar. And when I said January, I meant that I got the camera back in January. It was send there in October

The M6 can be repaired (by substituting MP parts). It is the M6TTL that cannot.

That is a bit of a sweeping statement. It depends on the fault on the M6TTL. If it doesn't involve replacement parts then repair is still possible. I was referring to the electronics (as was to post I replied to).
