Ranger Rick Posted June 8, 2021 Share #1  Posted June 8, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Finally got my printed manual, and found there are three possible top screens available.  Thought there was only one, as I always have been using the EVF and you can't see the top screen from that. Found the third screen, the one with Focus (distance) and Front (of focus point) and Back (of focus point) IOW, DOF, would be great.  However, I find this seems to work properly only when manual focus is set (rather than AF, even using MF adjustment while on AF).  If in AF, difficult to get to the screen and all three distances are always the same. Is this the way the process is designed to work (in MF Mode only)?  There is nothing in the printed manual other than pictures of the three screens. I tried contacting Leica USA, but Tech Dept voicemail says there have been "personnel changes"  which will adversely impact ability to respond to questions.  This type of announcement is not usually a positive for customers- I hope not the case here.
Advertisement Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 Hi Ranger Rick, Take a look here SL2 Top Display Screens. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
SrMi Posted June 8, 2021 Share #2 Â Posted June 8, 2021 AFAIK, the distance information is displayed on the top LCD in MF mode only and with a shutter half-press. Note that you can activate focusing with the press of the rear joystick (BBF = back-button focusing). I am always in MF mode and activate auto-focus only with the back button.
Slender Posted June 8, 2021 Share #3 Â Posted June 8, 2021 Hello @SrMi and @Ranger Rick. Good news on the SL2 the display of distance on TopScreen also work in AF mode in you maintain the shutter half-pressed while turning the focus ring. At least that's how it works on mine with 24/90. 1
