Lenses that inspire you to take photos

I wonder:  Does anyone here own an M lens that doesn't inspire them to make images??

I am fortunate in that I own six Leica M lenses.  All of them inspire me to make images.

My Q2's 28mm Summilux also inspires me.

I have too many lenses, and part of that it is because I simply never use many of them.

My Leica 50/2 Summicron v5. It's outstanding. But honestly, the lens itself doesn't inspire me to make images as other lenses. I was more inspired by the TT 35/1.4.

There is one lens I simply cannot decide if love or hate, and that's the 50mm Summilux ASPH. I've owned it four times and sold it the same number of times.

Now I desperately want one again! 😬

I have that one too. But lately, I've become pretty tired of both focus shift and flare. A lot of time has been spent on post processing to save images that have been spoiled by flare. Now I simply want a lens I can rely on in all situations.

Sounds like some relationships:  Break up/go back   break up/go back   break up/go back   break up/go back...

All four of my primary M lenses inspire my use of them, both on my digital M262 and film-based M4; the 21mm f3.4 Super Elmar, 35mm f1.4 FLE Summilux, 75mm f2 APO Summicron (on the M262, sub the 90mm f2 pre-ASPH with the M4) and 135mm f3.4 APO Telyt-M.

As I said in a previous post: It's my fingers that miss the lens. My head is probably of a different opinion. 🙄

Have you discussed the situation with your fingers? Maybe a few councelling session for the errr eleven of you would help. :)

guys, I just would like to let you know that a brand new Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 II MC (full name deserved) is the house! Indeed, a very inspiring lens 😆 I have a client meeting in one hour. Guess who is coming with me! I'll let you know... But where? Which thread? 🤔 ... 😆

I'm happy!

The problem is that I can’t afford it unless I sell another lens. I recently put the pre-ASPH out for sale, but today I already started to miss that one too, so I removed the add again. What a dilemma. 😫

I guess the only solution is to wait until I can buy it in addition to the other lenses, even though I’ve no idea when that will be.

Before to post a few pictures in other threads, I wanted to post here one. I now understand about "that glow", and the character of the lens you told me about. Because the Nokton is now in the house 🙂 My first Voigtlander ever, such a way to start!

When I see the file SOOC, it looked like it has a Kodachrome preset included 🤨 Love it.

M10 + CV 35/1.4 II MC wide open

P.s. a very inspiring lens to take photos

Hi Ernst

Don´t sell! I have never tried this lens, but despite my newly accuired 50 lux asph BC 😀 (and I also own a 50 cron v5) this pre-asph lens still tempts/bugs me… And a modern lux asph will always be available whenever…

A couple of hour ago I was out shooting with the lens I was just about to sell. I took this picture and many more like it. I don't know what I was thinking about, I will of course never sell it! That would have been my biggest mistake ever.

Why exactly? I don’t see why this shot wouldn’t have been made by a zeiss planar and what would in turn make the lens special... can you develop your explanation a bit more?
