Has any had their glasses scratched by the M10? New M10R owner (first M) I'm curious if this is a problem or not (previous cameras all had rubber eye cups). Out of paranoia I decided to cut a donut out of some self adhesive felt. Is this crazy? It seems to work well. I couldn't find any info about this when searching the board.

Ms used to scratch my glasses until about a year ago, when I got fed up and got new glasses with the serious scratch-resistant coating that costs more and takes longer.

No scratches since then - although the timing was bad. The really good scratch-resistant coatings are more prone to fogging up (as I was warned at the time of purchase) - and have fogged like crazy while I've had to shoot wearing a Covid mask. But Covid will pass eventually - scratches won't.

I've never really liked the idea of soft felt or rubber protection rings, though.

I always image airborne sand, dust or other grit embedding itself in the soft material over time - and creating a nice piece of ring-shaped sandpaper around the eyepiece. ;)

@adanThat's an interesting point regarding the grit getting into the felt. I didn't think about that. I guess I'll see what happens after a couple weeks of taking photos. I too bought expensive glasses with all the coatings and I'm trying to keep them nice. Agreed on the fogging problem. At times I can barely see through the viewfinder if I wear a loose fitting mask and the glasses completely fog up 🤷‍♂️

I’ve always worn glasses using M cameras (M2,3,4,5,6,9,10) over 50 years and never had a problem scratching my glasses. However, with my old eyes now I have to shift eye position around sometimes, so on the older worn metal-framed M2&3 I added a plastic snap-over ring from DAG camera, just to be safe.

I’m due for cataract surgery this year, so it will be a new experience to use a camera without glasses!

I experienced some scratching with my first Leica M, an M6TTL, so I added a rubber gasket of suitable size around the eyepiece. The M10 (and M9) don't scratch glasses.

My spectacles fogged like crazy when I first started wearing a Covid mask until I came across Muc-Off Premium Anti-fog treatment.

It comes in a small spray bottle and you simply spray the spectacle lenses front and back, wipe off the excess with a soft cloth and let the rest dry for a minute or so.  I got the stuff cheaply through Amazon and since using it I haven't had a fogging problem at all.  It can last for several days unless you're cleaning dust , finger marks etc off the lenses.  I normally gently wash my specs in warm soapy water and dry before applying the anti-fog spray - just because it seems like a good idea.

Pete.

PS, For full disclosure I have nothing whatever to do with the product or manufacturer other than being a very satisfied customer.
