Recently, there was some discussion about shooting children and I expressed my believe of being free to take any picture in public. When it comes to shooting kids, it is of course understood that we must be more careful and more respectful. I took the following picture in public and did not have any problem with anyone.

CL + 35mm TL

Louis I'm glad to  see you are not being influence by ultra liberal minded individuals who are always trying to  restrict our rights as photographers . Of course using discretion and good test are always to  be considered.  Here is one of my examples. Look what we would be missing if they had their way .

Thank you but this is the opposite of being “liberal”! Liberals are more relaxed and accepting different views as this appellation indicates. In my view, they are hyper conservatives and “moralists wannabes” who are opposing this kind of photography. Maybe they have something in their own life that they are trying to hide behind some smoke! Now, we have another category among them that is emerging; I think they are called followers of QAnon, or something like that.

Louis you are really funny we just have different political views . Have a nice day in a state that's schools are open and   run by your political opposition. 😁

You are very wrong about me. I am not expressing any “political “ views and I am registered as an “independent “. I have been raised in Europe as a free thinker but in a Gaulist family who also respected different opinions. I don’t vote for a party but for a person.

As for the State I am living now, I can see with my own eyes what a horrible governor and politicians we have. In regard to COVID-19, we are living in a very dangerous area. But this issue doesn’t belong to this gallery.

Thanks Louis  I glad to   know you too are an independent man  and not political .  Life is too  shot to  discuss politics,  every one has a different  view  and it's useless to  attempt to  change. Enjoy you good weather and take more of your excellent  pictures they are enjoyable to  see👍

Have you considered asking the parents for permission? I know you don't have to, but from a photography standpoint you might find it more rewarding to engage with your subject, and also you don't risk getting yourself into a dangerous situation with an angry parent. I'm sure if you explain "what you've seen" in the scene, for example the light or composition, many parentes would find it charming. You could even offer to send them the final result afterwards as a memory to them. Of course, you will miss some opertinities and candid moments, but I think you might gain more than you loose. The main risk is that the parentes will never complement your photo, but only say "you must have really good equipment" 🙂 Just a thought. Disregard it if you like.

You should take a deep breath and relax!.... Too many words for nothing!

How do you know if parents were not there! lol

Apologies, Louis, I meant no harm. You've told stories about how parents called the police on you, so I was just providing my suggestion to how I thought you could get a better experience. I don't really rhink it's kind of you to redicule me for contributing.

No harm, my friend. I think I learned my lesson as I mentioned in the comment I made and you are referring to. Now, I am living in a place where people love to be photographed, and I have never really been a big fan of children photography anyway.

The beach shot you see above is not mine and someone else posted it in my thread!  I posted the BW shot to demonstrate we can take children picture that would not be harmful ( as a few “moralists” may have suggested above !), and also because I found her very cute. Her mom thanked me for being interested in taking her daughter’s photo. :)
