I just noticed ( better late than never ) that the editing and changes we make in out posts are mentioned below the post! I really think this is not necessary and our changes should remain private. I often correct my typos or a word in my titles and I believe this should not be announced to other viewers.

Thanks for your consideration.

In case I was not clear, this is what I meant.

The problem, of course, is that not showing that a post has been edited enables a user to change or even reverse the content unnoticed after other members have reacted.  Furthermore as soon as a post is quoted the subsequent changes become apparent anyway. Privacy in a voluntary post in a public forum is not to be expected.
Might it be a compromise to just show the fact that the post / title was edited without showing the actual edit itself -just a thought-? In the end, this something  that Andreas has to decide.

I must be missing something - I don't see any edits (which are frequent in my case) in the same way as shown in Louis' post. Is there a setting that reveals them?

Paul, it happens to me to change quite often  something after posting and changing my mind about it. I even changed photos because I was not sure about the framing or contrasts. It always mentioned “ edited “ on the bottom with the date, but never with the kind of details you see in my sample above. This is what I think is very unnecessary.

If you edit the body of a post, like pop did in post #7 it just says that he edited the post and how long ago. However, it seems that if you edit the thread title it gives even more detail as shown in Louis' post #4. Most of the time edits are to the body of the post which may explain why Paul hasn't noticed this before. I hadn't! I'm used to other forums where you cannot edit the thread title and have to ask a moderator or admin to do so therefore I didn't even know you could edit a thread title. It does seem to be a fair point that an edit to a thread title should just show the same way as an edit to the body of a post. It would be really annoying if it worked the other way round and every time you corrected your punctuation etc it said edit by gibbo, fullstop instead of comma.

The compromise already exists.  An edited post is marked as 'edited', but it isn't mandatory to give a reason for an edit.  Not sure what the issue is, unless the OP doesn't want anyone to know when a post has been edited!
