STEVE S Posted April 13, 2021 Share #1 Posted April 13, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have recently been in contact with a gentleman who is having a problem mounting the 9cm Elmar-C on the Leica M9. Apparently the bayonet does not seat correctly on this camera although it seats correctly on an M2 and and M5. Has anyone experienced this problem? Anyone using the M9 with this lens; do you have any advice and/or experience with this particular combo. I am at a loss to what to advise as this issue has no logic that I can see. No but i have used it on M8.2 and M240 as well as film M's and mirrorless cameras with no problem at all. Might come from the bayonet of the M9, from that of the 90/4 of from both, difficult to say w/o seeing the beasts. TomB_tx Posted April 13, 2021 Share #3 Posted April 13, 2021 I've used my 90 Elmar C on M6, M9, and M10 without problems. Lovely, very sharp lens.
STEVE S Posted April 14, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted April 14, 2021 It turns out it was a small nick in the lens mount that was stopping the lens seating correctly. It seems that film M Leicas are rather more forgiving of wear and tear than their digital counterparts. Something to be aware of when buying second-hand film lenses for digital Ms Welcome, dear visitor! My least forgiving one is the M3's but i haven't got any problem with those of my digital Ms so far.
