M11 for me Posted April 12, 2021 Share #21 Posted April 12, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) vor 5 Stunden schrieb PTRA: Thank you all; very helpful. Last thing I was wondering is how useful a half case is. It protects the strongest part of the metal body, while leaving the vulnerable parts (buttons, viewfinder, screen, lens rings) unprotected. Do half-case-users think you avoided damage to your camera? I think that it is a valid question if one needs a half case at all. Did you ever have a half case on a DSLR? Probably not and still nothing happened to these heavy cameras. That is true. I never had any damage. But with Leica its different. I droped mine twice already (an M 10 though). The Leicas are small and light. When you have your camera on a bench and fiddle around with your backpack then it happened to me that I oversee the camera and find it again on the floor (or rather in the gravel. I must say that since then I use such half case prorection (Luigi). And on the other hand it looks very nice and elegant. But a friend of mine once claimed that such a half case is un-cool 😅
Advertisement Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Hi M11 for me, Take a look here How to put a Q2 in your backpack?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
PhotoCruiser Posted April 12, 2021 Share #22 Posted April 12, 2021 vor 25 Minuten schrieb M10 for me: I droped mine twice already (an M 10 though). exactly that is the reason that I use thumb grip, hand grip and especially the finger loop. Those accessories make dropping the camera virtually impossible Chris 1
Herr Barnack Posted April 13, 2021 Share #23 Posted April 13, 2021 When I am using my Filson rucksack, I will put my camera in my Zing Designs XL Neoprene Pouch and then put it in the rucksack. B&H used to carry these, but you may have to order directly from Tiffen/Zing nowadays: https://tiffen.com/collections/shop-all/products/zing-designs-pouch?variant=32733674766407

(Leica 14867) It's perfect for putting it in my motorcycle back-pack or any bag, that is safe from hits or any rough handling-situations. I got the original Thumb-Grip and Leica handgrip. The lens hood ist allways on. --> the neopren bag is designed for M-Body, but it fits Its quite troblesome to find a small Bag, that is just for the the Q (with the accessoires that iam using). There are lots of small bags, but neither of them is small enough (for me) to put it in my backpack. (billingham 72 would be my favourite, if i want a beautiful looking one with good materials, but a bit to big on the outside and i do not care about the aesthetics) At the moment iam searching for a small Bag (Colt-Design) that allows me to put it on my waist Strap, while iam hiking. (any recommendations here are welcome, it should be as small as possible and should not dongle around) I bought the Think Tank Photo Turnstyle 5 v2.0. It's very tight as it really does not fit well with a half case - a struggle to zip it close So I decided to be bold and remove the padding of the longitudinal divider; it works way better. Not perfect, but has room for filters, extra batteries, and a few other small items. Mind you that this is not a reversible modification, but I could not find another bag that did not look like a man's purse or a geeky camera bag

I initially used mine with the M9 and 50 lux and 28 cron. My last cycle trip in Croatia was with the Q2 and it worked well. I carried a tabletop tripod, extra battery, polarizing filter, and lens cleaning equipment as well. I added a GateKeeper Waist Strap to my version 1 bag and it was an improvement. gotium Posted April 14, 2021 Share #27 Posted April 14, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Expensive but the Ettas case will keep it nicely when in your backpack. Then you'll want to take it out when walking around with it on a strap around your neck, as the case is too fiddly to get the camera out quickly. The half case will also fit in the Ettas case. I use the half case because the bottom edges tend to scratch easily otherwise. I don't use a half case with any other camera.
Herr Barnack Posted April 14, 2021 Share #28 Posted April 14, 2021 (edited) The Billingham 72 would be another possibility as was mentioned by @MFT-Lehrling above: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1388291-REG/billingham_bl500133_70_72_camera_bag_khaki.html Others have spoken favorably about the 72 being a good choice for the Q and Q2. Very happy, of course. I have already found some interesting threads here about half cases and full cases. I would prefer not to use any case, but the Q2 is too precious for me to lug around unprotected. What I was wondering: does a half case offer enough protection? (the full cases are so ugly and big). Do you put your Q2 in half case in a backpack? In a bag with other items? As long as I have the Q2 around my neck I see no problem, but how does one put it in a bag? Perhaps a half case with extension to full case is the most sensible? Curious about your experienced advice, thanks. I have a padded insert in my backpack and I just put the camera in there. FHPdoc Posted April 16, 2021 Share #31 Posted April 16, 2021 Lots of great recommendations and choices here. I have gravitated to ONA bags and use the Roma when I need to pack my gear in a backpack or brief case. When I'm out and about shooting, the camera is over my shoulder without case for immediate access. Good luck in your search! - Scott

glengrant Posted April 18, 2021 Share #34 Posted April 18, 2021 Hi, the smallest bag I found with good protection and quick access is the Crumpler Light Delight Pouch 300, Q fits in perfectly and has space for 1 SD-card and 2 spare batteries. I use this when I’m carrying it alone when walking or use it to throw the camera in my backpack. Good luck in finding your perfect match! That said, ONA's Bond Street bags--though designed as stand-alones--are definitely more robust/protective, and even smaller than the Roma. icepick1985 Posted April 25, 2021 Share #39 Posted April 25, 2021 I bought the ACAM-75 and ACAM-76. The Q2 with thumb grip fits barely into the 75. It's OK, but a little bit too tight for my taste. The 76 is slightly "too big", but overall fine! I stick with the 76.
