CL now used for macro and telephoto duties (Sigma 30mm and marumi, Lumix 20-60 and soon to be added 70-300), also used with some m mount lenses for fun

Q2 for just about everything really

It depends. I use my CL for most tasks, but also occasionally take the original Q out when I know I will visit interiors, like Lincoln cathedral, where the Q excels. I have used the Q less during lockdown, but it remains one of my most liked cameras today. It is lovely to handle, excellent in manual focus and moderately versatile. The lens is superb.

I have both CL and Q. CL preferred because I can change lens (M Landes and CVs) follow mood or concrete idea. Q when i need AF. In fact i enyoy CL by far more. Emotional.

A TL lens would have saved you a considerable amount of money in that case, as well as carrying a second camera.

Out of curiosity how many of you own both a CL and a Q variant?

How does your usage differ?

Do you take both out to shoot or only one at a time?

MTIA!

I use TL2, which is equivalent to CL, if I had a Q I would sell it and with the money I get I would reinforce TL2 or CL or look for another alternative to the Q system.

If I didn't have TL2 or CL and had Q, I would keep it and try to harness its full potential.

The best advice that I have read from great masters of photography is that whenever it is possible to use the same camera at all times, it is the best way to master the camera we are using, with which, we will get it to its full potential. .

This is my simple opinion, without claiming to be the best and the true one.

I have a CL and Q2M.  The CL is the all purpose, do just about anything, zoom in, zoom out awesome, compact camera that got me hooked on the brand.  The Q2M is when I want to challenge myself, when feel like I want to try something different, when I want to feel a bit more artsy or perhaps entrenched in image-making.  Or sometimes it is just fun to grab the Q2M and see what I get.  Or sometimes I will have both strapped around by next, happy to play with two similar yet widely different toys.

Welcome,  Fishlens. Good to know a contented photographer.

🙂 the story was the other way around, by accident I was one of the first users of the Q. It was sold out for six months (something like that) EU-wide, but I was able to catch one in a small shop somewhere at the moment the parcel with the Q arrives. The CL came later. I kept the Q, considering that it is a milestone one should not sell (I once made that mistake with the Digilux 2). Now I love the CL with these nice little lenses (M and CV) or R-lenses or MeyerGörlitz and I keep the Q and use it often enough not to sell it with a loss. BTW I always carry only one camera with me and often just one or two lenses for an entire vacation.
