Stuart Richardson Posted March 31, 2021 Share #21 Posted March 31, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The 45mm and 120mm are the best of the bunch, in my opinion. I have used them all, except for the 120 TS. The 70mm is a very good lens when used "normally". By that I mean that it works great as a portrait lens and is sharp on center wide open, and it is great as a landscape lens when stopped down past 6.8 or f/8. The lens is sharp at moderate apertures (4, 5.6 etc), but it has field curvature, so if you are photographing landscapes at distance, it is better to shoot at f8 or f11 to bring the whole landscape within the DOF. It does not fair very well as a landscape lens closer to wide open, so if you are trying to shoot landscapes in low light, then the 45mm and 120mm are going to be your best choices. As a general purpose lens, the 70mm has a lovely character and is a versatile lens. I agree with the above that it does not have the same snap as the 50mm L lenses. I think it does probably have better bokeh, however. Edited March 31, 2021 by Stuart Richardson 2

You mentioned landscape, and if you plan on doing long exposure, then the Typ 007 is a no-go right off the start. Well noted. I rarely push 60sec exposures at base ISO on my SL2 so I don't see that as too much of an issue with the S 007.
djmay Posted March 31, 2021 Share #24 Posted March 31, 2021 I own S3 and S 006. I have used S007. You cannot go wrong with the S 007 or any S camera. I do not know of any other medium format system that combines excellent image quality, superb lenses, optical viewfinder and weather resistance. I have used S cameras in high wind, torrential rain, heavy snow, dust and night. I am currently shooting in the Swiss alps in snow with intense sun. Anything other than an optical viewfinder is tedious; possible but tedious. Same goes for night conditions. For night shots I rarely go beyond 2 minutes exposure. Go for the S 007. I doubt you will be disappointed.
ardbeg Posted April 2, 2021 Author Share #25 Posted April 2, 2021 Well, needless to say, I’m sold on the S 007. Somewhat related, is it just me or is the Leica FOTOs app a lot more stable connecting to the S than the SL2? I’ve found the app very buggy with the SL2 despite several rounds of patches but haven’t had any issues with the S.
aksclix Posted April 3, 2021 Share #26 Posted April 3, 2021 (edited) @ardbeg I have the 35, 70 and 180 so far and I really wouldn’t be adding any further S lenses. I had the 120 but I might be one of the very very few people who didn’t like using it. The IQ is definitely awesome but the slower AF, the noise, the bulk and the protruding front element drove me crazy! I loved the images it took though.. anyway, I am probably 1 in 1000 who didn’t like the lens or maybe the only one 😂 anyway, the 70 is definitely a handy lens which can be the only all purpose lens in the line up.. 45 is of course superior but it’s much larger in size and hard to find in used market and still double the cost of a 70! I am loving the 180 actually.. it feels lighter than I imagined and the IQ is stellar!! OOF background is pretty awesome too Edited April 3, 2021 by aksclix

If you are so inclined, the S180 el pro close focus adapter is a really nice addition. I've not seen many around, but did ultimately find one. Worth patiently looking for. (See below).
