Modern Leica is something people wear now, not photograph with. 😉

I wouldn’t recommend the apo35 as a ring on the finger ... or to dangle on a chain for the neck

The “Leica jewelry” sentiment is neither new, nor is it limited to modern Leica

An old BP M3 with a brass mount 50/2 BP rigid will give you way more bragging rights and jewelry points, than any modern Leica

Heck this is more bling than a diamond implant on Beyoncé’s booty 😂 ->

I meant our contemporary life. Leica has done a great job advertising their brand as jewelry. It used to advertise itself as exceptional photography.

Whatever helps them thrive ... looking at how the camera industry is being decimated, and how Leica themselves were in dire straits just a few years ago. Much as we may nitpick over this and that, we do want Leica to be around.

May I ask if the lens hood on the APO35 blocks the ovf like the FLE does?

There is minimal blockage with the hood on

Bottom one without the hood

Agree, the holy M series could fit into this category ... that said, the SL2-S is now very competitively priced, and the Q2 at €4,990 is a bargain compared to its direct competitor, the Zeiss ZX1 which is priced at €6,000

A jacket from Tom Ford costs the same as a M camera but yet the M does a lot more. I think Leica should charge more. For that reason alone, I think Leica should increase all of their prices.

Please ... not even more expensive ... most of my neighbors are crawling around wondering why they only have one kidney

You should buy some hemodialysis machines to support their passion and maybe grow a business.....

IQ aside, the APO would have been more appealing to me without the long focus throw to accommodate the closer focusing, in a more compact and simple configuration.  Sometimes less is more, especially when the 'more' in this case cannot be accommodated via the traditional RF, which is my only M viewing mode.

So what's your verdict so far ?

APO for the most unique rendering, or FLE for the extra stop (and the extra money in your pocket)?

I'm still undecided. If the APO was smaller, it would have been a clear winner. But the fact that it's as long as the FLE, it leaves the debate open.

For me it’s a buy. I will likely sell one of my 35FLE’s to part fund the purchase.

I have almost all the 35mm lenses released so far, and I have to say this one is the King 👑

You decide yet?

I have to add that the length of the lens is quite a disappointed. Hoods off, it’s the same as my summilux pre fle. So for some it will really come down to a decision “do you prefer the best IQ, or an extra stop of light of half the money ?”

Yes, it is a tad bigger than the 35/2ASPH v1, but It’s not quite the same as the 35 Lux.

Neither the preFLE ASPH, nor the FLE.

Comparison photo coming up in 5 min

Now I own a silver 35/2.0asph and a 35FLE. For indoors I usually rather bring use the FLE and I do use f1.4 sometimes. I am not sure if I wanted to give up the FLE and f1.4 for the 35apo. However I plan to get a 28/1.4 and in this case I might not need f1.4 for the 35 anym more ;)

The exact lens dimensions are readily available online.
This is not a scientific comparison, this is a “in my hands and in front of my eyes” perspective:

on camera: 35/1.4 FLE

Chrom lens is the 35/2asph v1

and of course the APO35/2
