A 50 most closely resembles the angle of view of your eye. Before decent zooms,  this was furnished with cameras.  A 50 was permanently attached to my first camera.  Others were wanted and over the years dozens of cameras were purchased with interchangeable lenses.  60 years later,  I use my 50`s most.  Yes plural.  If you are wealthy and want the best,  M10 + 50 2.0 APO. This will set you back less than $20,000.  35 and 90 will fill out the set.

As you obviously inexperienced,  do not buy an expensive Leica for a first camera just as you would not buy a $100,000  fast sports car as a first car.

For me, if I wanted to go with just one lens it would be 35 (or 50).

And if I had to decide between one superduper apo lens or 2 very good non apo lenses, I would go the second.

For example rather 28/2.8 and 50/2.5 instead of 35 apo.

like others said, only you know what you like to shoot and which focal length works best for that.

By the way, 35 is most comfortable for the viewfinder IMO, 50 works fine as well, 28 is ok (a little harder if you wear glasses).

When I bought my first Leica 35mm rangefinder, the first lens I purchased was a 35mm because based on my experience with 28, 35, 40, 45, 50, and 55mm prime lenses on 35mm SLR and rangefinder cameras, I knew that 35mm was my personal favorite focal length for general subjects.

In this case, 35mm will make you happy, no doubt.

Depending on your budget, you have plenty of choice, Leica or alternatives, new or second hand
