Advertisement Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Hi evikne, Take a look here The 50mm Summilux pre-ASPH image thread. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
brickftl Posted June 19 Share #1302 Posted June 19 I had some positive news today. A friend heard my tale of woe and offered to sell me his 50 pre-asph v3. It's silver so it's 380g, heavier than the black that I wanted, but at this point I can live with that. He's sending it to the CLA guy, and if it checks out and has no lens separation or other issues I'll buy it. I'm sure he'll give me a good price on it, but I'm curious what you think it's worth if it checks out? Welcome, dear visitor! I've never used the silver one but have had a titanium version (so, also the brass-housed / heavier type same as silver). it was absolutely beautiful . I'd go for it without hesitation !

leica5 Posted June 19 Share #1305 Posted June 19 That lens appears to be tungsten color, I have purchased one on auction site, great lens, much lighter than New V4.

Here's what Ye (the CLA guy) says: The lens has the typical optical cement deterioration problem, beyond cleaning. Leica already ran out of parts a long time ago. The lens is only good for parts. I think the fates have decided that this glorious lens just isn't for me. I've read all about the new remake classic line of this lens, seen some pics, and IMO it doesn't come close to creating magic as I've seen in this thread, so I'm going to pass on it.
