Ray,

I have to admit that Leitz/Leica (not only, of course) "offered" choices in different 50mm lenses since many decades,

that for me IS the good thing so I profit from those offerings to learn and see how different they can be.

So I have almost all Leitz/Leica offerings over time (from 1930's to recent days) and never been able to choose only one of them.

Elmar that I use many types may be the first old-success-story, but I'm happy to use wider open lenses when needed.

Nowadays, Summarit-M IS the successor (not a success anymore, users move to other lenses, so does Leica with Asph.Apo-etc. offerings).

Coming to Summilux-M 50mm, pre-asph. this is lovely lens which can enhance photographer's skills (not replacing skills lacks though) 😉

One day of transport strike,

March 2008

I had the Summilux-M 50 pre-asph.

on M8 to snap some frames (b&w jpeg from camera, so not margin to PP ! )

After a long search before receiving this lens (from a great forum member and friend) I'm over the moon to be able to post in here.

Lucky 3rd shot taken with it today, on M10-D .

Glad you are enjoying the lens Graham! Wonderful picture you have shared but you are rubbing salt into us as many here live on the other side of the equator meaning its snowy and cold outside vs your wonderful start to summer.

Ha thanks Mark.  It just looks hotter than it was, with this much over-exposure  :p
