There's only a few of us who post in here and I'm just surprised you don't hear this lens referred to regularly in other threads, like a handful of other 'renowned' lenses. (An example would be the 35:1.4 v2 getting a lot of airtime when 35mm's get discussed) . I find that quite surprising is all. Perhaps because this v3 was a relatively short run, or perhaps because there are just so many 'favourite' 50's. If I had to keep just 2 lenses (very reluctantly) I would easily choose this and the 35:1.4 v2 that you pair it with . I have also noticed that this lens is rarely mentioned. But I'm sure there are still many who have it, and I wish more people would participate in this thread. The top image on this page is a good example of why I started loving Mandler lenses. I remember trawling Flickr for this type of old style bokeh and found that this lens had exactly what I was looking for. In addition to many other qualities of course. Mr.Prime Posted May 22, 2022 Share #285 Posted May 22, 2022 (edited) You are not alone, the 50 v3 is my main shooter, it’s a nice lens to use, I have the black version because it is lighter, but I’m still learning how to use it, my photography skills are slowly evolving… Welcome, dear visitor! Yes, I both geotag and keyword tag all my images, so I can quickly find them if I want to. But I don't know what to do with them all. It's almost like an obsession, I just have to take them! 😬😄 Edited May 29, 2022 by evikne

Capuccino-Muffin Posted May 29, 2022 Share #295 Posted May 29, 2022 Best is prints in a big box. Physically digging and touching and looking at prints is what it’s about. Print them all 4x6 and fill the box. sorry to say but as files, they are already lost.

I have wanted to print my images and put in albums, but it's too much work. A big box is probably better. But another problem with printing is that I don't want my images to be cropped (they are already cropped exactly the way I want them), and printing will inevitably cause some cropping. Most of all I want to make photobooks. I have made a couple already, but making photobooks out of all my images, even just the best ones, seems to be an overly large job. Honestly, just print all your best and throw them in a large plastic storage box. This is about the best gift you can make for your family. Hours of pleasure digging into it. One way to print would simply be to print your favorites (probably 2-3-4000 of them) with the longest side fitting into 5.5 inch and let the shorter side fall where it may. There will be a white border but you will have all your shots as you like them. And yes, thaT’s why never cropping is the best practice: get it right in the camera. It will cost a lot bit hey, who said that photography was free? Digital comes with a great caveat: files in a computer are worthless. You are starting to see that.
Capuccino-Muffin Posted May 29, 2022 Share #298 Posted May 29, 2022 I would simply choose the folder contsining the favorites and send them for priting with the instructions. I believe “overall” means that the whole file must fit inside the 4x6. Printing also puts into perspective this whole photography thing, and the obsession around Lens’ rendition, it all becomes clear that it’s a diversion against the real purpose. Start slowly, print a dozen every week and build from there. this is also why film is best. One film a day, print 2-3 from each film...
