All excellent cameras, but to me there are absolutely no equal, no substitute, to the original M3, M2, M4 Black Paint Leicas. With the Holy Grail MP original Black Paint.

The endorphine provided by the original M2 and M3 Black Paint cameras is unmatched and they just keep giving and giving. The Original MP is too far out to even hope Of owning.

There are black paint Leicas made out of massive gold / platinum… stealth research commissioned by serious collectors.

Don't you mean 'rich' collectors? I don't know why somebody who is poor has to be degraded as less 'serious', they collect what they can and are happy doing it. And let's face it, some of the worst abominations in Leica history have been aimed at wealthy people.

I have to agree fully. It is always a question whether you are mainly collecting variants of skin and metal (like alligator, gold, titan or special paintings), which is a little bit like collecting jewelry, or you are collecting mainly technical variants (like I do). Which one of those is more serious?

I would rather go with the second one, skins, metals and colors are more or less arbitrary.

Here's a good guide of the special editions made. I have the regular BP MP, which I find gorgeous. On my wishllist are the Hermes, the MP3, and the Blue satin... The last two are so hard to find...
