Â Is there any sign that the SL2S would give me an improved B&W image over what I have at the moment? I've adjusted one Profile to Jpeg B&W with Sharpness and Contrast both to +1 - as a quick solution. Attached one quickly converted from Raw with some adjustments (Cow 75mm f2) and one directly out of camera without any further adjustments (Iso6400, 35mm sl f2, a bit dark, but was just a test shot when adjusting the profiles  ) Welcome, dear visitor! I’m not lucky enough to have used the Q2M or the M Monochrom - I’d love to, I’m sure they are absolutely fantastic - but I do know that you can achieve great monochrome tones and textures with the SL2-S under most conditions. And, as Alan Friedman says above, the sensor’s handling of low light lends itself really well to black & white. This is only a casual snap (a pontificating mate of mine on a lads drinking session 😂) but it was taken in poor light: SL2-S, Sigma 35mm f2 DG DN i Contemporary; f2, 1/125, iso 6400. Adapted M Lenses or the new Sigma primes can also help tremendously with the handling of SL cameras for candid & street type work. Size and weight needn’t be an issue these days with an SL. Welcome, dear visitor! beewee Posted April 17, 2022 Share #13  Posted April 17, 2022 I haven’t used the SL 601 but the dynamic range at ISO 50 on the original SL is similar but about 1/2 stop lower than the SL2-S at ISO 100. The SL2-S is very good at ISO 100 for high contrast scenes and works great for B&W. You can see the snow texture and the details in the trees in the shot below, taken at ISO 100 w/ 16-35 SL. Welcome, dear visitor! Do you raise your shadows so far sometimes that they turn to burnt toast? Do you find yourself limited by its highlight recovery? SL2-S can help with that.
