tedd Posted February 8, 2021 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi team, I picked up one of these cheap recently where the focus was way off. I decided to have a crack at repair myself and had no issue at all pulling it apart, though I am now struggling to get it back together! I was wondering if there was a service manual kicking about anywhere? Or perhaps I'll need to send it off.. Thanks!
Advertisement Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Hi tedd, Take a look here Tele-Elmarit Thin service manual. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Pyrogallol Posted February 8, 2021 Share #2 Posted February 8, 2021 If you google cleaning Leica tele elmarit you should find some videos and comments on how to do it. Yesterday I cleaned a Canon 35mm f3.5 Leica screw lens from 1951 after reading a couple of different google instructions on how to take it apart. a.noctilux Posted February 8, 2021 Share #3 Posted February 8, 2021 I have (had) some over years but never open them. As I know that I don't have tools and skills to do that, I let them go to repairers who have both. ... Remind me of this old discussion 90mm T-E thin of Nowhereman go to Jay_ post in this discussion may help (or not)

a.noctilux Posted February 8, 2021 Share #5 Posted February 8, 2021 Joachim, this is a nice half Tele-Elmar 4/135. Thanks, I've never seen this.
Michael Geschlecht Posted February 9, 2021 Share #6 Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) Hello Everybody, It also appears to be the last lens mount version where the lens head does NOT unscrew to use with a Visoflex (Mechanical), etc. Very nice to see. Thank you Joachim. Best Regards All, Michael Edited February 9, 2021 by Michael Geschlecht
a.noctilux Posted February 9, 2021 Share #7 Posted February 9, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) Michael, I think this is the one with optical lens head which can be unscrewed, I see the focussing ring is at right place, aperture ring at front, no pull out hood, filter small size (E39 in place of E46 of the last mount) Welcome, dear visitor! Michael Geschlecht Posted February 11, 2021 Share #8 Posted February 11, 2021 Hello A.noctilux, I think that you are correct. It does look like the detachable lens head version. Best Regards, Michael

Joachim Yes, if you cut them in two then they are much easier to clean. mdachs Posted February 11, 2021 Share #10 Posted February 11, 2021 What ever you do, you need only a few drops of glue. Im Falle eines Falles klebt „mm“ wirklich alles. Joachim
Oldfelisrufus Posted June 24, 2021 Share #11 Posted June 24, 2021 Regarding this Tele-Elmar. I need to remove the front lens element, as there is haze behind it. I one I inherited has serial number 208…., red numerals. The name ring readily unscrews. That doesn’t appear to hold that front lens in. How do I remove that front doublet to clean those inner surfaces? Many thanks for directions. Have the proper tools but leery of just trying to force anything. I pulled mine apart a few years back to remove fungus/haze - was quite straightforward - I just followed my nose. My only major issue (from memory) was nearly losing the tiny ball bearing that is the "click" for the aperture ring; and not having adequately marked the correct position of the two halves of the helicoid so it took ages and more patience than I normally display to get it back together. I had neither proper tools nor instructions, just followed logic and my nose. Works nicely now!!
