Adapter rings for TL to SL

I'm thinking of reselling all my CL and Sony A7 system to take a SL2 or SL2-s 

Is there an adapter ring for TL lenses on SL?   
I would like to keep my 55-135 TL for now

SL and CL have exactly same mount = L-mount. No adapter needed.

I have used my TL mount lenses on my SL2 without any adapter.  They work as well on the SL2 as they do on the CL, with the exception that, of course, the TL lenses are designed for APS-C size sensor, rather than the full frame on the SL2.  If you have old M or R mount lenses, they will also work on the SL2, and it is actually rather nice, although you do need an adapter for those, and of course the new Apochromatic Leica SL lenses are truly amazing.

I can buy one or 2 SL lenses to start and keep my TL  lenses for now

Mounting a TL-lens on SL puts the camera to APS-C mode so file size will be cropped from FF. In many cases works ok. This was shot with the 55-135 TL @ 55 on SL.

I use several of my CL lenses on the SL2, no loss in IQ & they work very well.  As these lenses are APS-C you also get a smaller size DNG file i.e. approx. 20.2MP instead of 48MP. It's still plenty of MP.

Thinking of getting the TL18 (in silver, so sexy) for my SL2... tired it briefly it is such a breeze and the IQ was indeed very good for a 80g lens.

I've read that there can be focus problems  with the SL2 and very noisy shadows with high ISO. 

What is your experience ?

I assume you're still referring to these lenses on the SL2?

If so, I've never had any focus issues with these lenses on the SL2 & haven't noticed any unforeseen noise issues. And if we're talking about lenses, noise has nothing to do with the lens being used. Noise is a function of photons, the sensor, camera electronics etc.

Unless you're referring to the SL2 in general?

How does the TL Lenses work on the SL 601 Body?  How much will I lose in Mpix ?   I am trying to save some money and buy the TL lens vs the SL lenses

I used some of my TL lenses when I had the SL601, they work just as well as they do on the SL2. No adjustments to be made.

On the SL601 you'll end up with approx. 10MP size DNG file. Unless you're doing serious cropping of images 10MP shouldn't be an issue.

Logically, you will have limitation shooting with APS-C lenses, but I have been very impressed by what I saw coming out my SL2 with the TL18 at 1000iso and the residual 20MP or so.

In general, a contrast based AF leica will not be as incredible as Sony A1 for action in still, and even more limitating for video (but serious video work is done in MF for the industry).

Another generality is that a 24mp with 6um pixels will perform better in the dark than a 47mp with 4.3um pixels. However in the real world, once processed and brought back to 24MP, the SL2 47mp file fare very well at 6400-12500iso, whereas that in good conditions you can't make 24mp cameras look nearly as nice and detailed as 47mp ones 😇. And you do not have to worry about moire and alliasing with such a rich sensor. For my practice it is then a very good, even excellent camera. The SL2s could be a great complement for video depending on what Leica does with both cameras in future firmware update (spring for sl2s, june or so for sl2 if my memory serves me well).

I recently bought the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 for portraits on my SL(601) -- phenomenal portraits with amazing resolution of focus points.

Almost too good in that some faces require just a touch of softening in cheeks and jawline.  Often the focused eye (the closer one) has almost too much detail!

Thank you Sonoma, I just purchased the Sigma 65 L Mount and it looks Very sharp. I am impressed with the Sigma lens on the Sl (601)
