Morning tropical light at 7:30. As an experiment, I processed this with Color Efex 4, using the Kodachrome 64 preset. I had to pull back on yellow quite a bit, and the resulting look looks like Ektar 100 to me. You can see a B&W version, here.

Hi Mitch,

lovely shot. When do you decide to use your m9 over your m10?

Thanks Steven. I sold my M9-P and MM just before buying my M10, which is the only Leica I now use, in addition to my Ricoh GRIII. This is a shot that I took in 2014 and never processed. As Covid has made it impossible to go to Thailand, where I would have been now, I've had time to review old images, including exploring color versions of shots from which I previously only processed B&W versions, and also to review shots, like this one, that I had never processed at all but had not deleted.

I don’t know how to put it into words but I find this a very typical example of the M9 with the Summicron 35 iv. It will be my memory of this camera/lens combination. Probably the neutral if not slightly cool/blueish cast. Some people talk about the Kodachrome25 character of the M9 images, which you can see here also.

I wanted to show this because I also like the colors of the Summicron 35 v4. This image is a bit typical for it, a bit blueish, which is very welcome to me in this age of the dominance of the 'warm', 'romantic' yellow cast. Made with my new M10R, developed in Luminar4 with only a slight white balance correction. The colors remind me of the classic professional Kodak EPP direct positive film.
