Hi there

After many helpful replies in this forum, I purchased a second hand M262 with a Voigtlander Ultron 35mm F2 lens and have given it its first proper outing today. Two points: (I) I seem to be struggling to get sharp focus on things despite overlapping the images to what I think is correct. Is this a case of practising more and more or does something need calibrating? (II) I have just noticed that the lens detection setting was an automatic which I have just read is a mistake: it should be off. Will this have caused damage to the camera and if so what can I do to repair it? Also, could this be the cause of the focusing issue?

Many thanks, all.

Ben

Thanks a lot for the reassurance! I do have prescription glasses but the prescription was (18 months ago) +1.50 and +1.75 so not too bad. I do go without them at times and tend to them off when I am shooting. Perhaps it is time for contact lenses...

Many thanks again.

Simple test if you have a tripod plus newspaper.

just use your own glasses for focussing, you must see well the focus patch

1 -Set the camera on tripod (better with cable release but you can use the self-timer at 2 seconds) to prevent shake.

2 - take a couple of images of your prefered newspaper at various settings of distance and aperture, note the settings

3 - judge the results on a computer screenat 100%

4 - report back here if required

What shutter speed are you shooting at? I set a min of 1/60 for 35mm.

If you are coming from a camera with IBIS you will need to learn how to properly hold the camera, ie elbows into your body and press the shutter as you exhale...
