Summilux 35mm v2 (1960-1995) and non-Serie VII filters

I have a quick question, which I would be greateful if anyone could answer. I

I am interested in this fast 35mm lens, but because I want to use a threaded Tiffen diffusion filter with it, I wonder how complicated or even possible it would be to mount such thing on this lens? I belive the lenshood only accepts Serie VII and must be mounted between the lens and the lenshood (https://kenrockwell.com/leica/images/35mm-f14/D3S_8568-12504-stacked.jpg). As I do not think there is a diffuser filter in Serie VII format, I was wondering if anyone has ever tried mounting non-Serie VII filters on this lens (using an adapter) perhaps.

Only Series VI filters can be used on one of my Kodak adapter clip-on A42.

like this one

Tried some days ago on my Summilux 35mm pre-asph. no vignetting.

Maybe kind of another adapter from your Tiffen to Kodak VI, but it would have vignetting, if too small diameter.

or ...

Another adapter, if exists by using the rear part of the 12504 hood to accept the adapter.

I don't have direct experience, sorry, just some suggestions.

Look on ebay and you’ll find several Series VII diffusers.

With the 12504 lens hood, the hood itself is separated by a screw thead from the clamp that attaches from the lens. I have Series VII filters and 49mm filters work, except for my IR R72 filter which has a fat metal ring. So if using IR I use the Kodak Series VI clamp on and a 39mm R72 filter kept in place with tape. B+W 49mm filters fit fine in the lens hood. I have a funny set of Tiffen Series VII filters and they are inferior to Leica or B+W. If you are looking for a soft image just use f1.4 on a 35 Summilux V2, I have one, 1972.

If you really want a sharp  centre with blurred edges try the old time trick of a smear of Vaseline round the outside of a uv filter. You can wash it off afterwards.

this is a copy of a print I made many years ago using that method. Leica M3 with 50mm Summicron.
