snapshot1 Posted November 22, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I’m using my SL with a 90mm lens and a studio strobe setup to photograph some still life’s. As I need a f16 aperture I cannot see through the view finder as its so dark. Is there a setting for a bright view finder that will then stop down as the strobe is fired? Photoworks Posted November 22, 2020 Share #2 Posted November 22, 2020 Do you know the saying: "Friends don't let friends shoot at f. 16" anything above f10 is going to have diffraction! back to your question in the menu 3 - Exposure Preview - set to "P-A-S"
Chuck Albertson Posted November 23, 2020 Share #3 Posted November 23, 2020 (edited) Also, if you're using a studio flash with a tungsten modeling light, setting the SL to "flash" WB setting will adjust the look of the modeling light in the EVF to something approaching daylight while you're focusing (tungsten WB, in other words), but the WB goes to 5500K when you trip the shutter. So which wb setting sould i choose for studio slashes?
hoppyman Posted November 23, 2020 Share #5 Posted November 23, 2020 I use the SL2 now, but I just set 5500k so that the previews on the camera are consistent for quick review of a set. I am assuming that you are shooting DNG and then setting WB as you like in developing. It depends how you are shooting and the ambient light of course. I have it on (for my key light only) for focus and it can make visible catch lights/reflections which can be useful. I set focus ( half press release) using the LCD and not the EVF. Then try to be watching and communicating with the model eyes out of camera. So that’s quite a change from using mirrored systems.

DrM Posted February 10, 2021 Share #7 Posted February 10, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) What strobes work for you. I had a look at Priolite but they are out of business. Any experiences you can share? best regards Marc
