Thanks very much, really kind! The Q2M is crepuscular like an owl, I've been finding it's at it's best when a photo doesn't even look feasible.

That was my revelatory moment with the Q2M - the first time I loaded a 'lost' photo into Lightroom, clicked on Auto (hey, it was lost!) and bam! There was the image!  It really is a shame for people to just use JPG--you will never get that 'wow!' moment. 🙂

Did you use a filter for the sky and clouds?

Yes, Heliopan #22 orange filter and 0.7 EV under-exposed. Post-processing in Photoshop and Silver Efex Pro.

One of those impossible images discussed earlier in the thread. You could barely see in the room. The amazing thing is I could pull a lot more detail out of this photo, but I wanted to capture the mood as I saw it.

While it’s a matter of personal choice and taste I agree with you here, it’s always tempting to produce a black and white HDR photo because essentially you can but for me that’s 99 times out of 100 not what I’m after. That’s not really the way our eye sees a scene nor is it the way emulsion records it either. My perspective may be old fashioned but most of the time I’m happy to have crushed blacks etc. You’ve got the perfect balance here I think.

I do accept that if one is chasing an Ansell Adams large format look with a dramatic landscape you may want to wring out every last drop of perceived detail but even there I think one can easily go too far resulting in a bland image

Wow! The tone is amazing. I don’t know how to get this B&W quality from color files. Makes me want to get a Q2M!!
