How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2048 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Fil

Here are some of last nights results.  I drove out into the Utah wilderness to try to get a good capture of Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS.  This first image is with the trusty 50mm Summicron (v5), f/2, ISO 6400, I/2 second exposure.  In addition to the tail that spanned many degrees of sky (with binoculars, I could trace it for 10 or 12 degrees), the anti-tail is also plainly visible.  It was gifted us by the fact that the earth was passing through the comet's orbital plane last night.  Lighting by Luna.

90mm Summicron-M, wide-open, ISO 6400, 1/2 second.  (The fuzzy spot halfway up in the comet's tail is the globular cluster M5.)
