Hi,

I took out the SL (second hand just purchased, not sure how old) and run some tests.

Besides the unremarkable shots (meaning my shots,, not the camera!) I noticed an issue in the JPGs.

There are horizontal bands of noise in the frame.

The bands are not shown in the RAW files.

The SD card is new, fast, formatted in camera, and appears to operate well otherwise, battery was fully charged.

Does anyone know of this issue, is it common?

Is Maestro going to retire soon?

Any help appreciated. I have 6 months to figure this out which is the warranty duration : )

Please see samples enclosed.

G.

Hi,

are the artefacts on your PC  or also on the camera playback?  So it could happend during download to the PC (No3 looks like such an error).

Did you change the card-slot? And try to use another SD-card? Is the firmware uptodate? Test the card in another camera or test it with a special prgram (h2testw - https://www.heise.de/download/product/h2testw-50539

If nothing helps call Leica Support.

thanks, camera has latest firmware, this happened on just few shots amongst many others I have taken.

It is shown also on the camera screen and it is only the JPG which are affected. It is odd... my guess it is something to do with the camera processing the image in JPG and then introducing the error. as if it was an issue with the card this would affect also the DNGs...

will see if leica has something to say

I will try to use slot 2, but if that is ok, it means slot 1 is faulty. Hope it is to do with some battery / button pressing / camera too busy to do something rather than a Maestro processor error... however as it is I can live with the issue (use RAW anyway) but I am a little concerned of the long term durability.

Will have to get to the bottom of this :  )
