I had two batteries and a charger ready... until I have upgraded to the sl2-s

sadly as the upgrade is such for a number of things, but some others are rather a downgrade (PC sync, GPS, body design, pre viz of exposure settings, etc etc).

Hi all,

using SL as webcam, power seems to be limited to 1 hour or so using a battery.

is there any other power option for this camera?  or any way to increase such broadcast time (without having to buy 7 batteries?)

Thank you

Interesting. How do you do this?

Batteries it is a big issue with SL I guess

Not really. I've done 12+ hour weddings on 3 batteries, with power to spare. In this case, the question asked was about using it as a web cam, which requires external power. The SL2, and SL2-S can be powered from the USB lead, as can the Panasonic and Sigma L-Mount cameras, but the SL can't. I don't think that Leica or anybody else anticipated the current demand for high-quality web cams.

Someone needs to develop and market a dummy battery that plugs in to external power. There are now 4 Leica Cameras that use this battery, so likely enough of a customer base.

I would like that too. I doubt it will happen, because the other cameras that use this battery have USB-C power-in.

Now I get it, I did not use SL first version, so I can not really tell if there was a problem with batteries or not but I get the idea that people want to use it as web cam 👌

at the moment people use SL2 SL2s with 2nd battery in the grip and USB-C power.

USB-C does not provide enough power to keep the camera battery charge.

Leica made dummy system for the S cameras. lets hope there is one for SL one day.

sl2s via usb-c is fine, you can use forever, no battery drain.

with sl, I had two batteries, once one was done it was going to charge and the other one in. but I suspect batteries would have lasted for a year or so under this regime... which is expensive...

Same with SL2

I just run the webcam over HDMI for 4 hours now and the batteries are all fully loaded.

The camera gets lightly warm.
