Follow the advice in the manual plus common sense (no abrasives or liquids).

That leaves out most everything.  I have seen Leica techs moisten/dampen a cloth with alcohol.  Not so much it can run inside.

When I clean a gun,  I put solvent on a small cloth and wrap it around an apporiate object to get into corners.  On an M,  that would be around shutter dial and advance lever.  Toothpick or tweezers bent at the end are ok.  Use enough layers so metal will not scratch.  Wood is best.

Zeiss alcohol wipes. There is not enough liquid to run but enough to clean.

I wonder if the inexpensive eyeglass wipes would do the same job.  I have plenty of them.  And can get them at my local Costco.  I am sure all other mass merchandisers carry them.

The Zeiss are very inexpensive and consistently reliable.

07 cents each.

Walmart, Costco, drug stores.

Used toothbrush can be handy to clean dusty corners,

before blowing, then wipe.

Miracle longlast clean at last, when I use a tiny dab of 'Pliz Fée du Logis' borrowed from my wife's panoply.

For the dusty bit around the dial/hotshot I’ve used (very carefully) a squishy thing called “cyber clean” I think - bright yellow v.lightly sticky “blob”.
