These are two shots that left me with a very good feeling about walking around taking pictures of the setting up of the street market. I had just caught the last movement of this vendor settting down a sack of potatoes. Right after the shot he caught me by suprise by telling me in english that they weighed 65 KIlos. I asked him if I could take another picture and got the second one.

The next morning I'm out getting more shots of the morning set up, I walked past him again, said hello and in his limited english, about as limited as my turkish, he began telling me about his kids, what universities they are studying in, and takes out his wallet and is showing pictures of them to me. He works very hard and is proud to share his childrens acheivements.

richard - fantastic. lov e it very much.

just a minor critoisizm here - the tones would be better in deeper. i mean it is slightly too cold and slightly too white to the eyes.

but again great work. i remember what u told me about the market and your intentions to make photos there. it is really good direction by now (and i mean to other posts too, u have made recently)

Victor,

Thanks for the advise, I have been working at getting my whites white and blacks Black, sometimes I miss the right balance. I post them in order to get feedback.

I shoot everything in raw and can always reset them image in LightRoom and rework it.

Victor,

I see these pictures as documenting a microcosm of life here and portraits of the people engaged within the context of its activity. I like B&W it forces a change in the way we see, focusing attention on content without the distraction of color.

However having said all of that, I know that some of them will be in color, they have to be to convey what appeals to the people who love street markets the most, the riot of color in the displaying of the produce an other goods. For example I have a shot of the guy at his table piled with lemons, lemons have no punch in B&W.

Stay tuned I have many more glimpses of a street market to post.

Thanks for your interest

Richard

John - Thanks, I have and plan to take plenty more

Stuart - Thanks, It happened that my wife and I saw him in the center square that evening, we said hello and my wife chatted with him in Turkish for a moment, he was telling her his daughter worked in the TurkCell office there and said how much it would mean to him if we stopped to say hello to her, as she is studying in University to become an English teacher. When we pass by during business hours we will do that.

Stefan - Thank you for your comments and taking the time to give me an example of how I can be a little more balanced with adjusting the tones. I plan to continue posting many different aspects of a weekly street market, please feel free to offer suggestions and examples.

Albert - It is a City of millions of pictures, you want a camera with you at all times.

Ed - Thanks, the people here are very friendly and helpful, the street market vendors for the most part will ask you to take their pictures, while others don't want you to and then later on they may join my portfolio of candid shots and hip shots.

Great shots both, Richard!

I love these slice of life scenes that reflect what ordinary people do day-in, day-out.

Stefan's deft touch really makes a difference, too. Bravo Stefan for showing how!

Thanks.

Allan
