I had no problem getting my Leica cameras to pair with FOTOS 2.0.  Worked for my SL and worked for my M10 first time trying.

I purchased a SL2 two weeks and it wouldn't pair at all.  So I upgraded to FOTOS 2.1 and none of the cameras will pair. (I am running on a iPhone X with iOS 13.3.1.)

Leica USA couldn't offer a solution and said to seek support through the App.  Did it once for the SL2 and got a nice auto-email saying a response will come shortly.  It hasn't.  Submitted the request for my M10 not pairing and got the same auto-response.  10 days on, no answer.

If any of you have a fix, I would be grateful.  Otherwise, I will wait for Leica AG to respond or ring them up.

I bought a Q2 last week, downloaded the Leica Fotos app on an iPhone XS, and have also had problems connecting to the camera. It recognises it and then fails when trying to establish the Wi-Fi connection. I've tried several times including resetting the camera etc. I've also sought support through the app and have received the same auto-email saying that I "receive a timely response...". TBH I don't expect to hear from them, but they may prove me wrong!

After a couple of days of frustration, I dug out my old iPhone 6, charged it up and installed Leica Fotos. This connected to the Q2 first time with no problems! There is almost nothing else on this old phone, and I even deleted all the previous remembered Bluetooth connections. I only really want Leica Fotos as a remote as the Q2 is devoid of any ports, but don't want to have to keep an old iPhone 6 in my bag solely for the purpose.

I can get my cameras to pair with FOTOS (v2.0) on my iPad, but not v2.1 on my iPhone.  I, too, just want to use FOTOS as a remote.  Hope you are wrong about the company responding.

I've been pretty successful with doing simple things with 2.1.1 on either an iPad or a late model Android phone, so iPhones may be the problem case.  In any case, if you can't connect, remove the camera from the phone/pad and start from scratch to connect.

So, an official answer and a mystery:

The Leica FOTOS team got back to me today.  Their recommendation for when FOTOS on an iPhone will not pair with the camera (SL, M10, etc.) is to:

1. Remove the camera from the iPhone WI-FI list. This can only be done when the camera is trying to pair with the app.  Otherwise, you won't see the WI-FI link in the menu of Settings>WI-FI.

2. Delete the camera from FOTOS and reinstall the camera.

It is supposed to then pair.  I wouldn't know if this solution works, because: after getting this answer, I went back to my SL2 and FOTOS  2.1 and found they  paired right off the bat!  No fix necessary.  This after spending at least 90 minutes trying installing/deleting/resetting software with various camera combos to get FOTOS 2.1 to pair with a Leica camera. Thus,, the mystery.

I hope this helps someone who runs into this problem in the future.

I have had problems pairing phone and camera with various versions of the app, different phones and different Leicas.

All in all, we might say, it is highly unreliable.

But I do have similar problems when pairing my Nikon cameras to phone apps, as well as my Sony camera and sometimes even my Fuji Instax (which generally works fine).

The only cameras I had never problems with are my Ricoh Theta (and my DJI Mavic Pro). ;)

The Ricoh shows that it is possible to programm an App that works. I don't understand why other manufacturers do have so many issues there.
