Water proof gear?

I am hoping someone can tell me their solution to this gear question.  I apologize if has bee discussed recently.

I sometimes travel onto the water with my Q2.  The weather/dust resistance was one of the features that attracted me to the Q2 over the Q.   I am looking for an easy opening bag that I can put the camera in while travel on the water in a kayak are small canoe.  I am not interested in doing underwater photography with the Q2 and 98% of the time it will not get wet.  Ideally I am looking for a bag that can be at my feet, which will give me quick access to the camera, but will also protect the camera if jet ski passes too close or I make a judgement error getting in or out of the boat.  I have a dry sac that I sometimes use for travel.  It will stay dry there, but I am unlikely to bring it out for quick shot.

Supposed to be actually waterproof. Not just shower proof etc. But I feel its overkill for what you want. I have kayaked with my M10 a few times, had it in a Billingham bag by me feet. Considering you have a weather sealed camera I would just go for a simple weather resistant bag... It'll be fine.

I wouldn't worry about this. I've had my definitely non-weatherproofed M8 sitting in a puddle as waves came in whist in an open boat, my equally non-protected M240 completely fogging up in the rainforest, I had to clear condensation of the sensor of my CL in tropical downpours last year, Tina Manley dropped her M8 into a river; all without ill effect, despite the occasional horror story on the Internet. At one point we even had a "dunked camera" thread
And your camera is weatherproofed!
Notwithstanding, I think that protecting a camera when not in use is not a bad idea. In general, I think any Billingham bag is more than adequate.

I would use a small Pelican case between my legs. It is absolutely waterproof and would even float if closed properly. A kayak is a great platform for getting around wildlife from the water. My experience is depending on the model it can overturn which would be a disaster. Look forward to your pics.

Your dry bag should be fine if you don't fold and seal the top, allowing you to reach in quickly.

A dry bag would work - if it is properly sealed it will be 100% waterproof, providing there are no holes or leaks.  Not lightning fast to get your Q2 out of,though and if the top is left open for quick access, it is not waterproof.  That would be very bad if you capsize.

As Leica Guy said, I would use a small Pelican case for the scenario you present.  A Pelican 1300 would be the right size to accommodate a Q2.

Thanks for the input.  I went for the Pelican 1300.  Worked pretty well.  I didn't test the actual water resistance of the camera or the case because everyone stayed dry.  I would not have ventured out on the lake with my Q2 had I not had the security of the box.  I am going to recommend the Orange or Yellow.  Easier to find if I loose it, but really because the black gets much too hot sitting in an open kayak while a search for a subject.
