An artist / photographer who photographs, say, a piece of sculpture can produce an image which might be considered to be a work of art in its own right.

Graffiti next to the entrance of an appartment house. I took a photo of it - so it might be 2nd hand art.

There are a lot of images from paintings to photographs that explicitly reference another original work of art, the question would be do they add anything beyond being a record to become a work of art in themselves?

Not bad so far.

I checked the art box today just around the corner and found a new arrangement of the exhibition room. I like the head in the basket and the lonely chair likewise.

Outside my home town of Falkirk, Scotland, there is a recently opened (relatively speaking!) recreational Water Park next to the new extension of the 18th C. Forth and Clyde canal. As part of the attractions there is a pair of enormous (30m / 93 feet high) steel sculptures of 'The Kelpies' - Shape-shifting Water Spirits from Celtic mythology. They are impressive structures but on the day of my visit during the Hols there was maintenance work being undertaken which made taking the 'traditional' view impossible so some improvisation and 'carefully considered cropping' was very much the order of the day.

I didn't have long to rattle-off snaps as time was of the essence due to our schedule but I'm quite pleased with those images I did manage to capture - all things taken into consideration. Here are four of them. I'd be interested in the views of the members;
