w44neg Posted May 24, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I've seen conflicting reports of ISO50 being a native base vs camera trickery; and therefore ISO100 being the true native base. Has anybody worked out whether 50 or 100 is lowest native ISO? If 100, I'm expecting 50 would result in a loss of Dynamic Range? Advertisement Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 Hi w44neg, Take a look here Base ISO of the Q2?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
acg69 Posted May 25, 2020 Share #2 Posted May 25, 2020 This was discussed extensively in the dpreview test of the Q2. I am using 100 just to be on the “safe” side. Never had much use for 50.
jaapv Posted May 25, 2020 Share #3 Posted May 25, 2020 I see no objection to using ISO 50, according to the chart on PhotonstoPhotos. As you see, it will gain you one stop of DR over ISO 100. In reality, It seems to cover a broader amount of stops.
jaapv Posted May 26, 2020 Share #5 Posted May 26, 2020 No, this is the correct photographic DR. The normally quoted number includes DR that is unusable because of noise. This is the most reliable site.
