gabrielaszalos Posted May 9, 2020 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a question for people who have this lens. My aperture ring turns beyond 1.4 when I turn it, there is an extra small stop. This extra small stop continues to open the blades. Now, I suspect that there are three possibilities here: - This is a defect and my 1.4 marking is not really 1.4 - I have a secret 1.3 setting - This is normal and the two small stops are equal Do other people who own this lens have this too? video:
Advertisement Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Hi gabrielaszalos, Take a look here Summilux 35mm 1.4 ASPH FLE aperture question. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Fedro Posted May 9, 2020 Share #2 Posted May 9, 2020 I would go for option 3 - I have other lenses that behave similarly
gabrielaszalos Posted May 9, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted May 9, 2020 I moved this thread into the lenses forum, but I am not sure how to delete it from here.
evikne Posted May 9, 2020 Share #4 Posted May 9, 2020 I don't own this lens anymore, but I remember it behaved exactly the same way.
bayernfan Posted May 9, 2020 Share #5 Posted May 9, 2020 (edited) You're very lucky as you have a super rare f/1.39 lens . (you don't) My 35 summicron asph does this to the same degree. My 35 summilux asph pre-fle does it to a lesser degree. I have a few other lenses that do this. It's a trait common to many modern Leica lenses. Also, I take the precaution of rotating the aperture ring with 2 fingers to prevent future looseness. I suspect one finger rotation leads to this. jankap Posted May 9, 2020 Share #6 Posted May 9, 2020 I remember vaguely, that there was a thread about this already. You could try to measure it by yourself, if it makes a notable difference.

GiorgioNuvolari Posted May 9, 2020 Share #8 Posted May 9, 2020 Indeed, seems rather normal - my Noctilux 0.95 behaves in the same way. Best, GN 1
