The quality lasts long after the price is forgotten, anyway...this is a Leica forum.   Value for money is bottom of the list 🤣🤣🤣....and no, I won’t be ‘investing’ in a thumb grip.  My hands are too big for them!

You may go to a Leica hop and try either the hand grip and, the thumb rest and or the right sized finger loop, best a combination of them.
I use all off them as my rather big hands make holding the camera uncomfortable and i am used the more ergonomic shape  of a camer with hand grip.

As i never use camera strap and can hold my cameras also for a long time in my hand or then she is stored in a camera bag,
the combination of all three makes the Q comfortable to hold and impossible that she slips out of my hand and fall down.
Particularly the finger loop makes holding the camera very safe while thumb rest and hand grip is more a ergonomic matter.

However, congrats for yor Q2, if you never used a fixed lengt lens you need to get used to that, but you wil be amazed by the image quality.

Thanks Chris, I used the Leica Handgrip and large loop with my CL....I found the loop a bit small for my fingers but yes, I agree the grip works well. I have a lovely Eddycam strap I plan to use with it but not ruling out the proper Leica grip yet!   .....  been practicing the ‘foot zoom’ 😉😉😉

There are 3 different sizes of the finger loop

Yes, the oldy but goldy way to zoom...
Keep in mind that you can easily crop as the optical quality of thelens and the hig resolution sensor make cropping convenient

John,

I recommend you do buy a Thumb Grip. I have the Match Technical and really like it. It makes securely holding the Q2 much easier and better.

John,

I came to Leica from a Fuji X100. I actually had three different models over I’d guess 4+ years. I enjoyed those cameras and each model was a good improvement over the previous. They are all APSC sensor size. I miss the optical / EVF choice, but everything else on the Q and now Q2 is superior. The jaw dropping IMHO is how sharp the Summilux lens and sensor are on the Q and now Q2. Quite a jump from the Fuji X100 and I think the Fuji is pretty darn good. I hope you have a similar full frame experience.

Dan, I started at the age of 7, nearly 50 yrs ago with a hand-me-down Zorki-4 rangefinder...I slowly worked myself up to an M6 (early used model) with a summicron 50.  then digital exploded and I had a succession of canon-nikon-olymp-etc's.. I did get back to basics with an X-pro-1 which just felt so much better...since then, educating my lads, work commitments etc I've not had that much free to pass under the Mrs radar for photo gear and ultimately ended up with a CL/18mm...what a gorgeous camera...but still spent some time fannying about with lenses etc...so I have arrived at the Q2 (or will tomorrow)  an all-in-one solution to let me concentrate on the image and not the gear.  the clincher over an M10/28mm (apart from the saving) is the AF...my eyes are simply needing any help they can get.   My Gear Highlights....my M6, My Rollei 35, a Leica R3mot (what a tank!)   My Lowlights....a canon Eos 1n  (used about 2% of its functions) a Praktica LTL3 (that was just pants!)    so here we are, I'm unashamedly spoiling myself with the Q2 and cannot wait to post some images from Bonny Scotland.

Thanks everyone for all the sound advice...you pushed me in the direction I was facing :-)

Manchester, my home city! Heading there tomorrow to shoot actually. I just picked up a Q2 recently and I'm sure, like me, you aren't regretting the decision 🙂

I was lucky enough to find a Leica Q "Snow" available on one of the camera forums. Only 300 in the edition. (I cannot bring myself to trade it for a black Q2, silly as that sounds).  I'm sure the Q2 silver version is around the corner. ...

The white Q1 will make you look less intimidating to little children than a black Q2 or any larger black camera.
Their photographed smiling faces will compensate you for the low inferiority of the Q1.

no, its a brilliant camera, wish I had more time to go out and shoot but mega busy at work with this covid crisis!...I reckon I'm just scraping the surface of the Q2's capabilities at present!
