Is anyone having trouble viewing SL2 mov files in DaVinci Resolve and Mac desktop?

Correct, OS X doesn’t recognise the codec used by Leica inside the mov files. You can record into mp4 format and will be ok but most likely you prefer mov files just like me. Then other tools like VLC can be used to view / play back on the Mac. And I process my clips in FCP X which has no issue handling the mov files. Btw iMovie app on iPad iOS has exactly same issue with mov files.

I think you can view the MOV files in a free download viewer called INA and both view and convert them to various different formats (MP4, HEVC-MKV etc) using iSkysoft Media Converter Deluxe (not a free programme). If you are using Catalina, don't be tempted to get the other well known universal viewer VLC. It is a mess in Catalina and will crash every time.

KYNO looked interesting.  Then I looked at their yearly subscription model:

Ouch.  Took a very large leaf out of Adobe's randsom-ware business model.  YMMV of course, but for this guy, nyet =/

subscription is only got the updates for a year, you can still use after that without the updates.

At this time they have 90 days trail what is great to try it.

the only thing missing for me is RAW files from Blackmagic are not supported.

Wilson, you could add “for you”. It’s not universally true, as I haven’t experienced a single issue with VLC on the latest OS X.

I was having problems with viewing a MOV file and listening to a FLAC file which had been posted on the forum using VLC. I reported this on the forum, that VLC was crashing every time I tried to open these files. A couple of other members said that it was very widely reported that VLC was not working properly on Catalina and pointed me in the direction of IINA, which proved to be very stable if not unexpectedly, a bit basic for the free version but it does what I want, so no need to upgrade to the pro version. If I want a more flexible programme or to convert, I always have the iSkysoft Media Converter Deluxe.

Others have talked about problems with the Mac desktop. As for Resolve, there are some formats that are supported in the paid-for "Studio" version, but not in the free version. The product page mentions "4K" (as opposed to UHD) and "10bit H.264" as being part of the Studio version. I rarely use Resolve (it's overkill for me), but when I do, I convert all the source files to compatible formats first: Prores, DNxHR, .wav for sound.
