I've seen this guy on several occasions driving his wagon standing up, while most others I see are sitting down. I remember thinking to myself,"I would love to get a picture of this" and then one day with th 35 lux in place on the R-D1 I'm taking picture to my right while standing in the road, I turned just in time to get this shot and get out of the way.

Thanks for looking,

Richard

Great timing. I'm glad you didn't get run over--I'd hate to think of that RD-1 and 35 lux ASPH laying trampled in the road. ;-))

I'm always impressed by the image quality from the RD-1, particularly the tonal range. I have high hopes that the M8 will meet or even exceed this standard.

I thought I posted a reply on this a couple of hours ago. Nevertheless....

I find luck to be a portion of my photography, and it comes into play here, too. However, you greatly enhanced your odds by wanting to make this shot and being in the right place frequently enough, and watching for it unitl you finally got it. Considering that you were at risk, your exposure and composition are testaments to your eye and sense. Well done. This makes me think of a scene in the Peter Weir film, the Witness, in which former dancer Boris Godenov, but then actor as an Amish man is showing off for a widow he admires by driving his wagon standing up.

Brent,

Thanks for your concern, you must have noticed how close the team is to the edge of the building, and if you know the 35 on the R-D1 you can probably estimate how close I was to them while the driver was looking in the other direction.

By the way, this being my first range finder I really love in and am equally impressed with the shots I am getting from it. I also expect the M8 to exceed its performance, after all it will an all Leica set up.

Richard
