'WERAophile' here. Cheers.

Good catch! The pic is my buddy who took up racing a number of years back to scratch an itch and WERA became the scratcher. It all started when he and I loaded up our bikes and hauled them in his trailer from Lost Wages to Willow Springs to enroll in a track day event. We both loved it and once a school opened up in Vegas, we signed up for several years in a row. He finally got to the point where he had to compete and moved on to WERA. Being an old fart, I suppressed the desire to go whole hog and helped pit for him occasionally. I will say that I love the track atmosphere and used to supplant my itch with runs to Laguna Seca for MotoGP races. When that died, did a couple of WSB races there but something about it wasn't quite the same.

That "bad itch" for speed affects more folks than the Wuhan virus.  It is often a lifetime sentence too. My husband had this same 'itch' in 1974, but there were hardly any places a road racing motorcyclist could go in the U.S.  So it was that ERA (pre-cursor to WERA) was conceived. WERA grew rapidly organizing national amateur series for both sprints and endurance road racing that continue to this day. Used to do 60,000 miles a year running races from left to right coast, Canada and Mexico! Great memories. Happy knee dragging. :0)

Here's a similar sense of style, in Joshua Tree National Park

My late friend Ken's RR Ghost Mk2.  He loaned it to me for week or two after he had his first stroke.  He figured it needed using.....and who was I to argue?

Lifetime sentence indeed...for myself, speed provides an essence for living like nothing else and it sounds like you and your husband have lived a very full life for much the same reason.  Apologies in advance for the attached non-Red Dot file but I also served as team photog on occasion. Enjoy... Shiny side up!

Thanks! His name is Michael Mamer. I lost track of him since I moved back to Colorado years ago but am pretty sure he is no longer racing. Fun times back then...track days and racing were about the only ways for us to find curves to try on straighten out in the LV area (and be safe about it). I still take great joy in carving the local canyons and find it helps to keep the mind sharp but not quite as exhilarating as being on a track.

..and that's Tony's trusty mechanic George driving the Alfa...

I've had many a races against Tony in HGPCA events.
