Thanks Robert out here  people are starting to  relax more and not worrying about the Corona Virus as they did in the beginning. I can recall not too long ago  with the flue  more  died then the Corona,  there was no  lock down,  people continued working.

If it's raw motor power you're looking for, this is the Grand Junction beam engine that pumped 75 million gallons of River Thames water every day.  The cylinder bore is 100 inches (2.5 metres), the beam weighs 54 tons, and Grand Junction puts out 717 gallons (3,255 litres) per stroke.

Fitted luggage..........Then.

Truly fitted to the car for which it is intended to maximize space utilization, hand-made by experienced, traditional craftsmen of the finest, most appropriate materials, yet at the time relatively reasonably priced at a level commesurate with the price of the automobile for which the fitted set was designed. Useful, elegant, and given proper care, will serve a very long time.

'62 M-B 300 SL Roadster, purchased new including removable hardtop, fitted luggage and Rudge knock-off wheels, and used on numerous trips throughout the western hemisphere.

..............and Now !

I'd hardly call that 'fitted', plastic, garish, made in China, ostentatious logo for all to see...... grotesquely overpriced. No wonder interest in a certain style of autombiles, their use and engagements with the automobile in general seems to be fading.

'Mephistopheles'.

Built by Ernest Eldridge in the UK from a Fiat chassis, and fitted with a 21.7 litre 6 cylinder Fiat aero engine developing 320PS. Eldridge achieved a speed of 146mph in 1924 on a public road in Arpajon, France and in doing so broke the world land speed record at that time.

Crikey, at 146 mph, the man with the flag must have had trouble staying in front!  😄
