The 75 Summilux isn't going anywhere. Sorry... But then I don't have an AMG 😉  Wow I want those friends 🤩 I saw some brutal images with the 75 mm lux. Very very nice wide open.
Advertisement Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 Hi SmokeSolid, Take a look here Leicarumours list a bunch of Leica lenses no longer on sale. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Posted May 25, 2020 Share #102  Posted May 25, 2020 (edited) Harrison cameras in the uk always say "awaiting stock" when they have no stock of any lens. 35mm f2 summicrom asph 2 recently listed as awaiting stock now says "no longer available". Both black and silver. M series.  Edited May 25, 2020 by steve 1959
adan Posted May 26, 2020 Share #103 Â Posted May 26, 2020 True - but Harrison's also says that about a whole lot of M lenses (while showing some Summarits - and the discontinued 18mm - "in stock"). That says to me either they have a clueless website operator, or they don't want to say "awaiting stock" if they have no firm idea of when production will restart and their back-ordered stock will arrive. The factory only just reopened last week, after a 2-month closure due to the pandemic: https://www.macfilos.com/2020/05/18/leica-factory-reopens-after-lockdown-closure/
wlaidlaw Posted May 26, 2020 Author Share #104  Posted May 26, 2020 I suspect that is an error on Harrison Cameras website. The 35 ASPH Summicron-M V..2 was not on the original list of discontinued lenses and why would it be? I would guess that might be Leica's biggest selling M lens. The 50 Summicron probably used to be the biggest seller but it is getting a bit long in the tooth, if still pretty good, and the alternative APO version is very expensive. Wilson

I’ll wait and see what Leica is up to or whether there is something going on in the first place. Speculating about stopping production is another thing than finding information of new Leica products that need to be registered somewhere. OK, I don't have a Summarit, but what I have seen and read that these lenses are all having the Leica look and quality in the pictures like the larger siblings, the Summicrons for a largely reduced price. Some customers complain about the build quality, could be, but image wise (Karbe look) they do fit. Edited May 28, 2020 by Alberti

I have early model 35mm f2.5 & 75mm f2.5 Summarits,  image-wise absolutely perfect, build quality is not up to usual standards.  Both lenses displayed loose focus rings & the 75mm had a rattling barrel, which I repaired. M11 for me Posted May 28, 2020 Share #107 Â Posted May 28, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Re 50mm I had (still have) the Summilux-M. As this one was too heavy (almost 500g) I rushed to find a Summarit. My dealer by accident had an f/2,5 which I immediately bought. Such a small thing with a weight of less than 200g. Its wonderfull. Â Yesterday I took a series of shots in our local cathedral (quite low light). I am absolutely thrilled with the result of that discontinued lens. I believe that my 50 Summilux will remain at home for most of the time. I personally believe that it makes little sense to photograph when there is almost no light. So my position is that a 1.4 lens is rarely required due to missing light. If you have a stable hand, the motiv is not moving and you are prepared to push ISO up to 3200 or 6400 then you do not need faster lens. I did even some portraits in normal lighting conditions and the background blur is wonderfull. I am not the type of person who looks for the ultimate background blur. Ieven like when I can make out (with so e looking) what there is in the background. So very happy with new Summarit and a pitty that this line is discontinued. Some customers complain about the build quality, could be, but image wise (Karbe look) they do fit. I only have the 75 & 90 f2.5 Summarits so can't talk about any of the others but my examples are absolutely faultless. The 75 is now one of my two most-used lenses and it (and the 90) is still exactly as solid build-wise as the day it was bought. The 90 is the 4th Leica lens of that focal-length I've acquired and, of the three I've kept (I really didn't like the Summicron at all so it went), it's the only one I will now use. The imaging quality of both Summarits is as perfect (for my needs) as any lens I've ever used in my life - and that's saying something. It may be that others find them 'too sharp' and 'too contrasty' but give me a sharp lens over a soft lens and a contrasty lens over a 'flat' lens anyday of the week. Philip.
