Hallo everybody,

sorry for starting a not so technical topic 😃, but I need you experience!

I bought few days ago a Leica SL2 with the 24-90 lens. I am looking for a camera bag that can put in my bag pack during the travel in the plane and then use during my tours as a single bag! I would like to transport without removing the lens and the only that I have found is an Hama Model that personally I don’t like. I would like something with good quality, but not in leather because during trekking is too heavy and not useful.

In other words I would like something that combine German quality with Italian design and American practicality!

Do you some suggestion?

Thanks in advance for you support!

Best regards and have a nice weekend,

Gino

One of the most frequent topics.  This discussion is probably close enough... lots of choices...

Billingham made a bag specifically to hold the SL with 24-90 attached.  But the Hadley Pro could do it with room to spare, and there are many similarly sized alternatives from other brands.  Small backpacks, too.

If money is no object, bags from Oberwerth, Fogg and others are the usual suspects.  A search will bring up dozens of discussions, even if not specific to your exact gear.

I bought the peak Design Sling v2 6L - the SL@ and 24-90 fit perfectly in the middle and you have room for and lens either side. It also takes and 11" iPad Pro.

Works very well and using this now for a trip in the Caribbean, great weather but as ever you get downpours for 10 minutes randomly!! Just perfect for me and I use a Hadley bag for my M10 & Q2 combo for other stuff.

Look at the Billingham Hadley One for the SL/SL2 system. Perfect size for a body (or two), a couple of lenses and tons of accessories.

Make sure you go for the optional SP40 shoulder pad.

Another great bag is the Oberwerth Munchen. A bit more $$, but is more than 50% vegetable tanned leather, with the rest of the materials being Cordura.

I own both. The Hadley One is slightly larger and a bit more weather-resistant. The Oberwerth might offer a bit more protection

I have the PD 6. Camera in the center with APO Summicron SL lens aiming down (hood reversed), and another APO Summicron SL lens on the left side. I put straps and batteries under the flap on the right. While I have not tried it, my sense is that having a third lens on the right is not ideal unless the third lens is very small. And even that is problematic  if you have the small lens on the camera and the two larger lenses on the outsides, the camera no longer fits in the middle. Better to get the PD 10 for a three lens setup.

Can you post some pictures?

As you can see the grip sits on the flap on the right side. If you were to try to stow a third lens on the right, it would have to be very small.  But this is still a great setup for two lenses. The PD5 will work this way as well. The PD10 allows for the same setup, but with an APO Summicron or similar on the right laying down on its side, and the mounted lens with hood deployed because they are taller. PD10 also accommodates a 12.9" I Pad Pro

I've been browsing a large number of threads talking about bags for the SL/SL2, but I yet have to find something that can take the SL2 with 24-90mm **and** the grip attached...
I'm sure this must have been discussed, so any pointers would be much appreciated...

I have this bag ONA Brixton which comfortably takes the SL or SL2 with grip attached & VE 24-90mm L.

It also takes the SL OR SL2 with grip attached & VE 90-280mm L with space to spare.

It also accommodates the SL or SL2 with grip attached and both lenses i.e. 24-90mm mounted & 90-280mm alongside, without the bag bulging.

I find the Hadley One to be a perfect fit. big and light, and you can more inserts or take them all out, there is already some padding on the bottom and sides without it.

Hi Rob,

thanks for sharing These pictures!

I Need one more clarification: the bag in your Pictures is the Peak Design Version 6 or the Version 10?

Becuase I am interested in something capable as the bag in the Picture.

Thanks for your support!

Regards,

Gino

The bag in the photo is the new PD6. The previous PD5 will accommodate the same setup though, just a little more snug at the top around the eyepiece, but these can be had for less$. The PD10 is wider and taller and can take the camera with lens and hood in ready position + big lens on the left and big lens on the right laying down on its side, under the flap.

I got this Manfrotto CSC Sling that also doubles as a, shudder, fanny pack lol. I always use it as a sling though 😆

Just enough for my SL with 50SL Lux with strap and extra battery.
