Keep in mind that it will expose only the APS-C part of the SL or SL2's imaging chip, giving it a 90 mm field of view.  On the CL it is a very good lens.  After that opinions will differ.  For example, some will say that AF is irrelevant for macro and others that it is essential...

Has anyone used this lens on an SL?  Thoughts?  Does the Autfocus work with the SL? How does this compare with the Vintage R Elmarit 60?

I have both the R Elmarit 60mm & the TL APO 60mm lens. AFS & AFC does work with the TL 60mm on the SL & SL2.  Due to the fact that the TL vers. is an APSC lens, on the SL it gives you a 10.3MP DNG file and on the SL2 a 20.1MP DNG file.

The 60mm R  sells for around $500- to $600-  and the TL for about $3, 300-

The R vers.is an excellent lens for the price, and delivers excellent results in both Macro and normal mode.

The TL60mm is an APO lens,  more modern and overall a superior lens, with correction for chromatic aberration plus the "benefit" of AF.  IQ is superb.

As Scott says there are differing opinions on whether one needs AF in Macro mode. Depending on what you want to use the lens for, and if  you don't want to spend  $3, 300- on the TL60mm, the R60mm vers. is a real gem at the price.

There's also the Sigma 70mm Macro in L mount which is about to be released at about $560- which by all accounts is also an excellent lens. Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art Lens L Mount  Read the reviews on the E mount vers. on the attached B&H link.

Right! Thanks for setting me straight.  I did not even know the TL system was a crop sensor system.  Yeah, I think I will shop around for a 60 R Elmarit.  Do you think the ROM version is worth holding out for or are the earlier 3 CAM, 2 CAM versions just fine?

The only difference is that the ROM version gives you lens recognition & EXIF on the SL,  but this only works if you use the Leica R to L adapter which costs an arm and a leg, insanely priced @ around $1, 000-

I have an earlier non-ROM 60mm lens which I use on the SL & SL2 with a dumb adapter which costs about $25- I enter the focal length manually & no issues whatsoever.

Any examples of pics with the 60 TL on an SL2?
