dickgillberg Posted February 11, 2020 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I noticed that in US the monochrom 10 are less expensive than M10P. How come? In Sweden and other the M10M cost more than M10P. Edited February 11, 2020 by dickgillberg spelling
Advertisement Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Hi dickgillberg, Take a look here Monochrom 10 prices. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
fotografr Posted February 16, 2020 Share #2 Posted February 16, 2020 I've just put this question to some of the top level management personnel at Leica AG and what they tell me is that their research has shown Swedes to be among the happiest people on the planet. Therefore, Leica have concluded that Swedes will happily pay a higher price for their cameras. 1
digitalfx Posted February 18, 2020 Share #3 Posted February 18, 2020 I have wondered this myself, although no complaints. Could it be the difference in the Tariffs? maybe in the US the Tariff specifies color sensors and overlooks that someone might create a B&W sensor...pure speculation though But I am very curious though
adan Posted February 21, 2020 Share #4 Posted February 21, 2020 (edited) Nope - the US tariffs are on lenses only, not cameras. 9002.11.90 Objective lenses and parts & access. thereof, for cameras, projectors, or photographic enlargers or reducers, except projection not elsewhere specified or included. Nevertheless it may be an indirect response to the tariffs - reducing a camera price may "sweeten the deal" of a lens + camera combo. And Leica just may have more wiggle-room on Monochroms than M10-Ps, so that is where it shows up. Also remember that Leica USA is a separate (if wholey owned) company, and has always had some authority to set their own prices according to their reading of the US market (not simply convert €€€ to $$$). They may just feel that US photographers as a whole are not as interested in monochrome-only cameras, and it will take a lower price to make their sales goals. Whereas in the EU, they figure Monochroms will be more desirable, and support the higher price. Edited February 21, 2020 by adan

Totally off topic, but congratulations to Adan for being speaker with what looks a very interesting talk at LHSA Spring Meet. Wish I could be there!
