They are IMHO easily good enough for just a walk around in your pocket camera. In fact they’re better than a lot of cameras in the feature set including night mode (amazing 3 sec image stabilized) and the three lenses. I love my Q2, but the iPhone is my new backup and it’s always with me. I do agree with you regarding the quality of the more recent camera phones but I find the look of the iPhone 11 files a bit too "plasticky" for my taste. Super portable and pocketable indeed but......plasticky

I do not know how well they will enlarge to hang on the wall or put on the desk. because of that I also carry my Leica c typ112 Edited February 2, 2020 by prk60091
bags27 Posted February 2, 2020 Share #23 Posted February 2, 2020 Among my Q photos that I had professionally printed is one that I really love. And then I realized I had taken it with my iphone 6. Ruined my day. 3

Jayk Posted February 3, 2020 Share #25 Posted February 3, 2020 I’m fortunate to own a GRIII, Leica Q and Nikon Z7. Make no mistake, they are all excellent. The GRIII gets the most use, due to its “pocketability”. Neither the Q or the Z7 has the same level of convenience. I use the Q when I don’t mind using a small shoulder bag (yes, even a small bag can be inconvenient) and I use the Z7 when I want the flexibility of a zoom and a better crop factor. In use, I have the GRIII in my hand on a wrist strap. I use the Leica Q fitted with a grip and a Leica loop which means the Q is also in my hand ready to use. I think this is a fantastic combination. It’s heavier than the GRIII but I can carry it that way for quite a long time, if necessary. I use the Z7 on a sling which means it is very accessible but marginally less so than the GRIII and the Q. As for build quality I will be controversial and suggest the Q has the lowest quality when viewed in terms of surface durability. They seem very susceptible to rubbing and scratches. Look at the eBay examples. Some people appear to view this damage as a badge of honour but I don’t. And it could be a real issue if you are using your Q as a travel camera, which is the point of this discussion. I love using the Q the most. Q owners will know why. I find the three user pre-set options on both the GRIII and the Z7 extremely helpful and can move between different settings for different conditions very quickly and then tweak them as necessary. The controls on the Z7 are a joy. In the right place and highly customisable. I am happy to use all three at 3200 ISO and to take them to 6400. That’s not to say they all deliver to the same standard but I believe the standard of each is very acceptable - to me at least. And if you push them further some adjustments in LR can work wonders. So, which would I travel with? If it was a major holiday, I would take the Z7 and the GRIII. Otherwise I would just take the Q, possibly with the GRIII. After all that I think I’m saying I wouldn’t rely just on the GRIII. But if I did, I think I would be perfectly happy with the results. It’s not straightforward, is it? Perhaps I’ll give it a try. Never used a case or protector but I'm not irresponsible either. Wabi-sabi
Viv Posted February 3, 2020 Share #27 Posted February 3, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I "downgraded" from the Q to the CL. Gave the Q to my daughter, who is a better photographer than I.

Jayk Posted February 3, 2020 Share #29 Posted February 3, 2020 Wabi-sabi. I haven't come across that but I like the idea even through I would find it hard to practice in terms of my own cameras. I suspect she would have made many of us very uncomfortable, which is not a bad thing at all.

david strachan Posted February 7, 2020 Share #32 Posted February 7, 2020 Small is not always good. I prefer a bit of heft in my cameras, and feel good in hand...which reminds me the cell phones are just ghastly to operate. You a photographer?..or a touriste? If i haven't got a decent camera with me...well i don't take a picture (even if i have a mobile/cell phone). They are horrors only good for quick record or journal reminder...like which plugs go-where on back of computer..🤣 Please don't try to convince otherwise, or we'd all just be using mobiles. ...
