marcg Posted January 28, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I mainly live in Paris and this is a place where you go to a restaurant and you address the waiter as "Sir" and he addresses you as "Sir" – except you know that he doesn't mean it and he's really sneering at you - but that if he senses that you don't mean it, then you don't get served for a very long time. I just put in a tentative order with Clifton Cameras and had to pay a £5 returnable deposit. When he called me "Sir" I detected a real genuine note of respect and reverence. It was exquisite. I think I'm going to phone around and start reserving M10M's all over the place simply to enjoy that moment of genuine deference which in Paris is so rare nowadays. 3 4 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Most waiters were friendly and quick with a bit of second language humour. Got basically ignored in an empty Leica Store in HK later in the year though.
