What could at "Lightroom" the new "Upright" tools of the department "Transforming" probably

do with perhaps less perfectly symmetrical objects like the Main Porch of the Basle Minster here?

Tearing and rebuild? - Suing the architects?  :)

John Clare Festival

Many of you will have known Peter Moyse ARPS who died this year. Peter was a great Leicaphile and a member of the Leica Fellowship.

He was also very involved with the John Clare Society, commemorating the 'peasant poet' John Clare. Peter wrote a number of books and pamphlets about Clare illustrated by his excellent local photographs. He also produced DVDs, again with his photography and poems recited by him.

This weekend sees the annual John Clare Festival in Helpston where the poet was born and raised and where Peter lived in his later years. Peter was always very involved in the festival.

These photographs were taken on my M8, the first digital Leica camera Peter had handled - I'm still not sure if he was impressed.

The children in the village school decorate the poet's grave with these floral 'cushions' in a ceremony each year. One of these is dedicated to Peter though I couldn't determine which.

Excellent photos Michael; Peter Moyse was also a member of The Leica Society. On the day he was rushed to hospital he was taking photos with his Leica camera in the ambulance - and the final photograph taken by himself featuring medics in the hospital A&E Dept was published as part of his obituary.

R.I.P. Peter.

I believe there is no question, the advances in digital image technology represented in the A7 cameras speak for themselves when A7 images are compared to older cameras. In fact, one could almost say that every well exposed/composed Sony A7 image is an advertisement for Sony's superiority in the technological world.....as it pertains to cameras. And yet, two weeks ago, when I went with my son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, to the zoo, I felt completely satisfied with the M8. I suppose it entirely possible, any superiority I might recognize in the M8 is all in my mind; but as I mover closer and closer to old age, infirmity, etc., peace of mind trumps just about everything else. I am dabbling in the M9 world now, but only because Leica support seems to be more complete for those cameras. When image quality is the top consideration, I grab my IIIA and the ancient 50mm 2.5 Hektor.

Funny M8 story:

When leaving the zoo, there was a number of young ladies attempting to generate extra revenue by approaching folks and attempting to sell quick family snaps as keepsakes. As I attempted to waive off one of the young ladies, she approached me, pointed at the M8, and asked: "is that a REAL camera?"

I rather cherish the memory of attending a venue when my friend with a basic Nikon dSLR was told to leave it in the car but my M8 was allowed in as it wasn't a professional camera - didn't even have a flash.

Who visitis Photokina, will be able to see this image at the Voigtländer booth - printed 3m wide, shot with an M8.2 at ISO 640 and the VM Ultron 21mm.

I thought I may need to use a MF film image for this print size, but the M8.2 image held up well.
