For openers, I don't remember seeing these limitations anywhere. They're certainly not displayed ... Other forums do checks on images, why can't you?

The maximum image size is 960 x 640 pixels and with a file size not exceeding 250 Kb.

Easily found at: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/rules.php, even if a bit dated. You agreed to respect those very rules when joining the forum.

What other forums do actually check on links posted by members, and how often are the checks on each and every link repeated?

Another tidbit, taken from the same place:

all participants are obliged to interact in a civilized and respectful manner and in a manner which is not likely to cause offence to other forum members

To your first comment, my point was that the size limits are not posted in the most obvious place, the link window or the reply page. Very simple to add if it's that important. As for quoting the rules, I doubt if I would have remembered since it's been awhile since I joined and I've got more to do than read rules files all the time.

To your second comment, I don't know of any other forum that checks linked images. There may be some but none of the ones I've posted on do. I can understand limits on attached files. There are obvious reasons for that. I don't see the reason for linked files other than that they not overwhelm the page.

To your quote about not being offensive, I find it offensive to have images that were only slightly too large deleted when a simple PM that gave me a chance to fix them would have accomplished the purpose in a non-offensive way.

In any case, I'm not interested in arguing with you about it as it's done and over.

Rather than make a fuss about the size of the photos, it's quite easy to resize before posting. I don't understand why it would be the responsibility of the moderators to resize every photo. This forum has rules which most of us follow. :)

firstly, this is nothing personal. These are the rules that the Forum owner has set and everyone is asked to respect them.

The maximum dimension is shown every time you click on the button to add a photograph and the size limitations are to keep the experience good for everyone. If you upload shots to the forum, rather than link to other places, oversize ones are automatically rejected. Mods do not edit sizes.

Zombii, I didn't receive a PM from you. If you have a problem I can help you with please PM me.

Thanks for re-presenting your shots.

Great shot Rod!

The Noctilux is for me THE most beautiful portrait lens with showing some context of the person.

Here are a few, I did last weekend:

"drill bits"

L1041131-chinese%20chess%20-%20thinking.jpg

"plotting a move"

"…"

This old resident actually saw me shooting in the small alleys and asked me, to take a portrait of him.

Unfortunately, he has no address or means, to receive a print, so I will be wandering this place again soon, handing him a print personally - I hope, I will find him again.

Who says, you can't use a 15mm to portrait a person - is this strictly portrait or does imply having shot a candid photograph limit one to another, bla, bla … ;-)

What is going on?

Why are just links showing?

Wilfredo - No it's really nothing serious. It's just a routine (15month) check-up: a bit of sensor cleaning and recovering in vulcanite! :) Yay! Can't wait to get her back, my 24 Lux is feeling mighty lonely.

Lax - The example I provide was actually quite deliberately BAD for the M8, but you get my drift. Here are some examples comparing black and white images, the M8 fares substantially better in high ISO and B&W.

M8 @ f/1.4 and ISO1250

p610010767-4.jpg

5D Mark II @ f/2.0 and ISO1250

p370480307-4.jpg

Again, the 5D performs much better, but I do enjoy the "grain" the M8 provides as opposed to the "noise" that the 5D has. Does that even make sense? Either way, guess I'm just trying to say that the B&W images the M8 produces at higher ISOs seem to give off a more film-esque noise, which can be quite desirable sometimes.

Eddie:

I agree. Most of the time I prefer B&W images from my M8 when compared to my 5D Mark II. Handling my DSLR is easier, but once you develop a certain taste for a certain look, you can't let it go.

I guess that's one of the unfortunate side-effects of being stereotyped as the "City of Love"?

Venice, Italy, is the City of Love, not Paris.

All this is because of the Doisneau photo; photo that was staged with the complicity of the two protagonists, Françoise Bornet et her boyfriend Jacques Carteaud who were both students in the dramatic arts. Even if they were having a romantic relationship, they were acting. This photo was a work Doisneau was doing for Life magazine. So much for the city of love! :D
