View of the bridge, the new bypass for the Hoover Dam, from where my earlier contribution was shot. The bridge is named in honor of Pat Tilman and Mike O'Callaghan.

I've only had my eBay used M8 for a short while and I find it amazing, this picture confounds me, reduced to 940x632px so it is within the forum upload limit but = 1MP, to reduce it down to the limit it virtually becomes a thumbnail, shown below.

Here's the link to it at 940x632

Thanks Philipp - I was hoping when I watched the film that there was somethings I didn't know about but I do pretty much everything Andy suggests.

What I think is happening with that picture is that, in effect, there's not much that can be compressed as it is all minute details in 1000s of tones as the histogram shows. Or in other words it is many times more complex than Andy's picture which even had to be compressed below 72

Clive - I think you might have missed the last part of the procedure, i.e. "save for web" and jpeg compression. Here's what I get when apply those steps to your original image:

It's a tiny bit above 300kB in size. Though, I admit I also left out the preview image and the metadata which also saved some space.

I now have to admit - saying that I pretty much do everything that Andy suggested is not quite the same as everything!! Thanks Philipp

I have just bought a M9 and have put my M8 up for sale. It feels unreal. I have always regreted selling any of my camera gear. This will hardly be an exception. I am going through my M8 pictures that I have taken since I bought my M8 in April 2007. We have had quite a journey together:

Like this magic summer evening in Copenhagen, on a business trip, I was just going for a walk before going to bed, trying out my just a month old M8. The new Copenhagen Opera House can be seen on the other side of the harbour.

Another harbour walk when on a business trip: Nystad, Finland, on chill early summer evening around mid summer when the sun is at it's highest here in Scandinavia.

Going for late evening walks fumbling my M8 while on busines trips has been typical. Here, in Helsinki, taking pictures of Mohammad ALFayed's beautiful Yacht, at anchor. His wife in Finish. He's got a new yacht now. The famous Finish icebreakers can be seen in the background.

Olsen - The color in your pictures are just magical. It's insane what the M8 can do, and how well it fares with new "state-of-the-art" Canon/Nikon cameras.

Haven't posted here in a while, so here's one with my "new" 40mm Summicron-C
