That is one cool shot. I like Zeiss brush, it's got spunk. Do you have any portrait shots wide open you care to share?

I have had the lens only for a short time, so I do not have any real potraits, but here are a few shots of people. I have edited the color a bit through:

I'm a late to this really awesome thread – but better late than never ;) So these are my contributions (in hope that this thread will continue to be active). All from last year in Noord Holland:

M8, Leica Elmar 4/90mm (4 element version from around 1960)

M8, Leica Summicron 2/35mm (4th version)

M8, Leica Elmar 4/90mm

I'am also interested in what "tone mapping" means.

This is my first post here and let me say that there are so many fabulous images that I have to congratulate you all. Just wonderful work. I had purchased my M8U before I found this thread but didn't receive it until two days ago. Although I haven't got filters yet and there are some issues in getting color like I want it, the IQ of many of the images is all that ti's cracked up to be. Anyway, here's one modest example with the CV 50/1.5. It's a little tricky to focus but I've ordered a viewfinder magnifier so hopefully that will help.

Welcome to the forum. It looks like you are already discovering how great the M8 is for B&W. Keep posting your shots. Focusing takes practice. I never use the Magnifier with a 50mm lens. I had a Magnifier and got rid of it. It mostly came in handy when I used my 90mm Elmarit. I'ved trimmed down to just a 35 and 50. For your color shots you will need the UV/IR Cut filter. It will make a difference. There are many threads on this in the M8 forum you can search.

I had a wonderful weekend at this year's 24 race.

At the last minute, I decided, to skip the D3 + 300 VR and assorted gear and took instead two Leica bodies and lenses as long as 135mm.

One comment: I loved it ;-)

I am still on the road in Europe and will upload more on my site.

A first preview can be found already - thanks for looking ;-)

Thanks Wilfredo. I use a magnifier on my 5D2 with MF lenses and it definitely helps there. I'll try it on the M8 and see how it goes.

One of the things that I have started experimenting with is panoramic photography.

Here's my first (almost) successful attempt using my M8 and (IIRC) 28mm Elmarit.

2010-week18-1.jpg&newsize=960

I haven't got a panoramic tripod head or any gizmos to work out the nodal point of the lens. This was done with a fairly low-end Manfrotto 3 way head.

To stitch the images, I used some software (free!) from Hugin, which runs under Linux, to produce the pano.

A bigger version can be seen by clicking on the image (I've had to do this to stay within the forum posting rules: hopefully, this won't cause any problems with the moderators.)

I have lots to learn as the horizon is a bit saw-toothed, but it has some potential I think.

I'd be interested in your comments.

Cheers

Mark

I finally got my 50mm Summilux ASPH. It's late and the day is past. All I can do is shoot stuff around the house. These prints were next to my crib as a child. I put them on a canvas to preserve them. f/1.4
