Thank Wilfredo, The thread is great, many good shoots from everyone. I really spend a lot of time watching the pictures. I posted that one also cause is my first shoot with m8 using elmarit 21mm 2,8 without any filter. That' why colours are strange a bit. My m8 is also In German for repair... I miss it!

Good news, I got my M8 back today. I was expecting a loaner but it looks like Leica put the return of my camera on the fast track, thanks to Mr. Spiller, Leica's CEO. I wrote to him and explained the situation, and he was very helpful in speeding things up.

Very nice shots Wilfredo. Really like the feel of that shot of the Lonesome Dove book.

I'll join the celebration.

Something from a weekend portrait session.

(sorry, it was shot with Zeiss glass, but the camera is an M8.2)

One of the best shots I saw in the last time. Congratulation.

Hello, just a quick note to say that a) I love this shot with the bikers at the saloon and B) that the UN-cropped version is very much preffered by me. The full view as originally composed seems to have a much more balanced and thought out feel to it - ie: the pieces fit together well to my eye. Cropping in, while showing nice pieces and details, doesn't seem as polished an image as the full one does.

kudos on a nice image

Richard,

Thanks for the comments.

I like the uncropped one myself, but couldn't resist posting the other.

It's hard to read the tee shirt in the uncropped one and see where the guy's hand is, then put the two together.

Some excellent photos here.

Been going through my Cuba photos again, taken on the M8, as there is going to something on them in the next LFI.

I have decided I really miss my M8.

Sold it and bought a 5D2 which is great for certain types of work

But because I like small cameras I am now using the GF1 which is a great camera

But looking back at my Cuba photos and looking at some of the great photos above I do miss the depth and warmth of the M8 and long for it again

I can never justify spending over 4k on one single camera (although spend a lot mor on various cameras together) so the M9 is out of my range.

Is it really worth buying a used M8 now... how much life do you think one could get from a decent one?

Don't Buy One! Don't Buy One!

Don't Buy One! Don't Buy One!

:eek:Did He Just Say That!

... because if I can keep you out of the market, maybe the price will stay in the affordable-ish range and maybe even go L-O-W-E-R (but don't tell anyone I said that out loud - don't want to jinx it!). :)

Query: Hey Nick, how do you like, or not like, the 'feel' of using the 5Dmk2?

I am looking at it versus a 2nd hand 1Ds mkii/iii based on ergonomics, build quality, and focus screen diversity for using my Leica SLR R Mount lenses. But - that 5D is a tough competitor on price point and features. I'll definitely be getting a M8 and a lens or two to a) try my hand at Leica RF photography and B) get back into doing IR photo's again.

Kind of hung up waiting on lawyers and bureaucracies before I'll have the funds to make these buys - either be a month or two or a year and a month or two - give or take six months!. Tis what it is.

Looked at the thraed again

Well done for starting it and your own great images Wilfredo

And there are too many excellent images on this thread to comment on

Richard - the 5D2 really is a brilliant camera. I can't tell you anything wrong with it. The ergonomics are great, image quality and high isos perfect, live view and hd video very useful and it has never let me down - also has long battery life.

It's just for me size matters, I travel around a lot and I don't really like zoom lenses so if I take the 5D2 and two-three lenses and a film body I already have a very big bag of gear to weigh me down. With the M8 I used to have, or the GF1/EP2 I use now I can slip a film body or two in my bag, and a couple of shared lenses and it still feels light. And using a smaller camera is less obtrusive I find than pointing a massive dslr in someones face.

Just not able to stop before the last one!

Great works

I'll get mine in 48 hours.
